K2 performance mods & buying tips
« on: December 12, 2005, 04:28:58 PM »
Hi Guys,

Just joined. bk form the yahoo CB750 group suggested i join and ask for Terry P from Oz.

I'm an aussie looking to buy a good K2 in the next year or so and warm it up a bit (I'm after a rideable streetbike not a racer)  - but using parts that would have been available in that era (eg. '69 - '75 ish). Have an '83 750 Interceptor at present and love it but have always wanted a K2 - childhood memories of these beautiful bikes.

Looks like a big bore kit (which one?), cam (which one?), 4 into 2 into 1 (the satanic mechanic says this gives a more mid-range and overall power than a straight 4 into 1), K&N filters. What else?

Also - handling. Fork braces? Frame stiffening? What works?

Thanks in advance & cheers,

Neil.

PS: Also - what to check when buying a K2?

Hi Neil, welcome to the forum.

The guy to speak to regarding performance is Mike (the head man) Rieck.
Terry in Aus is building a bike with one of Mikes heads but another guy in the States Sean Condon has already built one and claims it's scary, but only when you want it to be.
This sounds like what you'r looking for.

Good luck Sam.

Hi Neil,
Brookesy here - G'day and Wlecome.

I'm in Oz too and looking to do similar things for similar reasons
 - although i'm still collecting parts for that project, i'm slowly restoring my K1 to original cond.

Finding K2 stuff is not as hard as i thought it would be
Finding K1 stuff is a bit harder.

I might be in the market for some head work too.

Have fun - this is a great place to learn about the religion of SOHC

CB750 K1 - undergoing restoration (on hold)
CB750 K2 - Wanted - More time to work on her
CB1300S - the most awesome bike i've owned yet
Z1000 1977 - Wanted - a head in rebuildable condition

Terry lives in Victoria. I should know...I've sent enough things to him. If you guys are interested in engine work (porting/machine work) please let me know. I shipped the head I did for Terry to Australia for 99.00 US air mail. It arrives in about a week if memory serves correct. First year for the Interceptor I see......
