The Good, The Bad, but definitely THE UGLY BIKE
« on: December 12, 2005, 10:19:57 PM »
My apologies to all in advance, for making the stomach churn. These are two pictures of the current state of the nation for my project. Recently purchased. It is a 1976 F1 Super sport frame, but with a 1976 K6 engine.According to DSS.

Maybe it should be called an exercise in frustration, but that would take too long to discuss.

I just thought I would post these and then hopefully with some further progress in a few months, it may even make it onto the road.

I picked it up for small change, and have since spent a few bills on it. Probably quite a few bills to go.

How does that DOHC tank fit on there? I have though about using a DOHC tank but each time I fitted it to a K bike it fit akward in the rear. Never fit it to an F frame though.

The tank is from a honda 900, the frame has unfortunately been altered with an angle grinder and a plate welded in front of the battery box with some tabs welded on the sides.. It fits fine, but I am currently looking for a 750 tank to put back on.

Will other models of 750 tanks fit ?? They seem to be a little bit hard to find. Will any other model tank fit this F1 frame.

thanks in advance

I think the bike looks like an outstabding project.  Any super-trick plans for it?

Mate, I like the look of the dohc tank. Just use that while you sort out the rest of the machine ...god luck and just keep going with it .
I know its only rock and roll,
but I like it...

Pictures are how the tank mounts were,,, have just finished grinding the plate off this afternoon... it still fits ok but I hopefully have found a tank that will suit a lot better.

Jim,

The silencer is not a name I would call it , more like an echo chamber.. the brand I cannot really decipher from what appears to be left of the sticker, but underneath there was a code stamped on it being 1100KAT if that makes any sense to you..
It was pushed over the 4 to 1 pipes and just hung there..no real sealing of the exhaust etc..

Have since removed the 4 to 1 pipes and contemplating whether to clean em up or just paint them. probably paint as they have been welded at the bottom in a few places, also seem to be a bit burnt and rusty.

I have some more questions but will post another thread..

thanks

Hey I am sure I got an uglier bike then that. I was just out looking at it trying to make up my mine what to do with it. I will have to figure out how to put a pic up so you guys can see and help me out with making up my mind.... :D what to do with it. One thing I know I need help with is no first gear. Is there anyone out there that might live close to PORT SAINT LUCIE FLORIDA. It's on the east coast of florida about 120 miles south of Mouse World.   Anyway I think we should have who has the uglest bike that runs contest. What do you think ::)

Thanks, Ron

I don't live in FL but lately I have been visiting in your area at least once a year. (Friend has a condo near Ft. Pierce.) I try to visit my two smoker friends (near "Mouse World" as you called it - I like that) while I am there. You are much closer to the condo. Don't know when I will be there, maybe sometime in the spring. (The condo is rented through March.)

Dennis,

When you head down this way email me.  I run dive nd fishing charters here part time....it's supposed to be full time but the hurricanes have none us in. In fact I am working on my boat now trying to get it back going again. Do you ride your bike here?

Interesting!!

Uhhhh ........NO!

Long ride from NJ on my old bikes or even a new bike for that matter.
Usually drive, occasionally fly into Orlando.
Never found a good place to rent a ride down there. Do you know any?
Closest place I found was a Hardley dealer about 40 miles away in Stuart. Never even bothered to call, way too inconvenient.

Dennis,
 Not on the map.

Stuart is only about 15 miles from Ft. Pierce but they cost a lot to rent. Actually , I think you are talking about Treasure Coast Harley and that is at the south end of Martin county. That is about 25 miles away, 50 round trip. People still call it Stuart but are really in the county.

At my age, more than 20 miles calls for a different type of transportation too. ;)

.. maybe .... saw it in the phone book and looked at the map and just said screw it. I even carried a helmet all the way to FL.
Maybe I will find a good running rat and leave it there.  :)
Of course if my friend decides to take it for ride and his wife discovers that it might be my last trip to Florida (or the East coast anyway) for a long time!

BTW: do I have your email addy? you can reach me at DSciaataol.com You know how to handle the "at"
