CB160 - Can't get rocker arm studs out... Suggestions? PICS

The first one slid right out, the other three won't budge? Any suggestions/secrets to this?

The red stud is what I'm trying to get out. There's really no way to whack it from the other side as the cam chain gear blocks anything you'd try to stick through.

On a 175 at least, you can screw a 6mm bolt into their ends and pull them out.
I haven't seen a 160 in many years, maybe it's the same??

Nope, but I got them out with a lot of hammering, extension studs, and painful angles not worth describing.

Have you tried a valve spring compressor clamp and a tube to envelope the stud?

Try a piece turned to slip in with 10 thou clearance, then drill & tap it then cut it at about a 60 degree angle. then drill the remainder oversize and tighten with an allen bolt and pull it out.

 The part you cut off has to be about 1/2 or 3/8 on the shorter side....it will look like what holds an old bicycle handlebar stem in.

 If it is a blind hole, turn a piece of bar stock to about 3 thou clearance, put some grease in the hole, slide the bar in till it bottoms on the grease, now smack it with a hammer..

Adam, there's nothing in the Haynes manual that tells how to get them out.
They go into blind holes with the outer covers to stop them coming out.
I'm not sure what would cause them to stick unless the bike has been stored for a long time.

It might be worth pointing out that they are not blind holes -they're through holes. I can take pics if need be; regardless, I got them out.

My motors have 2 through spindles with circlips on both ends, cam tunnel is to the left of the cylinders.
What might have been holding the tight one, did you have a valve that was still on the cam.
That would have put pressure on the spindle.

There is no lip. What stops them is actually the studs (the long ones that hold the cases to the block to the head). Not sure if it's just this motor, but they were REALLY tight in their holes.
