Will a 74 550 drum hub work on a 76 750F?
« on: October 12, 2009, 10:45:36 AM »
Sorry tried a quick search to no avail. I am in the process of moving stuff from my old place to my new and I need to get my 750 moved but the rear rim is off and in need of a tire and truing which I don't have the $ for right now. I just need it to be able to bolt it on so i can roll it onto a truck but I don't want to disassemble ride over there with a tire on my back (engine's dead on my car so I'm riding a little 250) and find it doesn't work. Thanks guys.

I don't know much about the 550 but if the axle is the same diameter and the width of the 550 hub is equal to or less than the 750 hub + brake caliper it should be a go.  Most likely the caliper will have to be removed or tied up out of the way.  If they are both handy it should be no problem to get a measurement.  A little slop should not be a problem for the small distance you have to cover.

Axle will go through but spacers are different. Just to wheel it that wont matter but DO NOT try to ride it
