a guy a grew up with just recently got back in touch with me and it turns out he's heavily into the pre-68 vw microbus' in a big way. i havent really seriously thought about having another until the past few days. i went up into the attic and pulled the turbo and header and carb down and stared at it and dreamed for a while. i can build a N/A 2332 making around 200 hp or so for fairly little money (around what a new set of hm300's would cost me) maybe instead of a newer, more modern bike, i'll build me a hotrod bug when the money starts coming in again. my 2400cc bug with the turbo and drawing through a predator carb made 360rwhp on cam2 and around 320 on pump gas. might be interesting to see what i could do with a modern hydraulic cam (there was no such thing back in 95) , cylinder head and fuel injection wouldnt it? hell they have coil-over kits for the rear ends of bugs now, kits to convert an irs bug to porsche 930 axles and cv's. maybe a squareback even since i love wagons so much.

Check out this website.  It may help you get our microbus fix.  It chronicles the adventures of a young couple traveling the world.  The first part details a sailing trip around the world and when they come back from that they restore an old VW bus and travel all over the U.S., Mexico. Central America, and Europe.   The VW part starts about August 2007 to the present but the whole thing is a good read with many great photos.  Go to the archives for the whole listing by month and year.

i traveled the eastern half of the us several times in a 62 westphalia bus as a teenaged deadhead. what a ball, you couldnt pay me to do it today though lol, i like my comfort too much now
