fork and wheel swap info
« on: September 24, 2009, 09:06:15 AM »
I've made a web page to warehouse my files, notes and utilities for fork and wheel swaps.
Have a look and feel free to send me anything you feel should be included.

This needs to be on different page!

Possibly a differnet title as well.

A resource with loads of potential like this needs to be highlighted.

Added what I could for now.

Best Wishes with this!

This looks to be a great amount of info..........when I tried to open the file for the K3 steering neck I got a long download and a very nice screen of my own desktop RTP.

My question.........I changed the steering bearings to the roller type and used the spacer at the bottom of my K3.  The top bearing requires the spacers on the forks between the ears and the top brace.  I was going to make a tool to remove about 2mm of material from top-side of the inside 'ring' below the top of the neck to allow the bearing to seat at the proper depth.  Would this application be correct for all K3 and newer models?

That's a darn good question, but I don't really know all of the in's and out's of each CB750 Model, I'm a K3 guy too and I used the small spacer below the lower bearing and all else lined up perfectly, fork ear spacing and all.
Sorry I can't offer more info, maybe search the tech section of the forum then start a new thread?

I've updated the documents list with 12 new documents, many deal with USD (inverted) forks and more late model bikes. Lots of it was gleaned from forums so if you recognize anything....thank you. And as usual if there is a problem please let me know and I'll take care of it.

I'll continue to update when time allows, but anyone can contribute documents by sending them to me at the link provided on the Documents Page.
Thanks for reading, I hope some of this info helps demystify the swap process.

It's good to have this stuff on line within reach of all people.

However,

 The

Dual_Disc_Conversion.doc

has the same error posted everywhere of using a CB 500 speedo drive plate (and requires no mods to fit). The early CB 750 Sandcast speedo drive plate is the one that requires no mods to fit. The other CB drive plates (single disc) require mods to have them fit on the dual disc conversion.

Heres a link showing the different speedo drives used.

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=60039.msg651404#msg651404

There are other posts that show what needs to be done to modify the single disc drive plate to work with the dual discs. Feel free to use anything that I have posted.
