i know this is a tall order but was wondering more about this 650 cam in 550 head swap. what is the differences in duration, lift, and degrees? can i do this in my 1978 550k? and what year cam is interchangeable with my bike?  how would you adjust the vales correctly. is there a timing mark that lines up? i would love to have a sleeper to take down my friends gpz550 dohc. thanks for your time.

I think you'll be happy with the switch.  It really woke up my 550.

This has all been covered in several recent threads, just type "650 cam 550" in the search field at the top right of the main forum page and look through a few of them for some info and tips.

Any cam shaft from a SOHC4 650 will work.  Just follow the procedure in your manual for removal/replacement of your stock cam, and set the valves the same as you did before.
