Bite the bullet :(

After 3 months and using every chemical suggested by members to free my pistons and, as my better half has said,turned my garage into a toxic chemical site,I am going to pull the head off my K2.
Having never done this before, what specific tools do I absolutely need to take this motor apart?

The typical complement of metric tools will cover just about everything.  One thing that will save you more time, effort, and years off your life is an impact driver to remove the phillips head case screws, and at around 20 bucks, there's no good reason not to have one.  You can use a regular claw hammer with it, but a rubber mallet makes it easier.  To put things back together properly, you'll need a torque wrench.

12mm socket, 10mm socket and wrench in addition to the impact driver
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Just an FYI...I got my impact driver at Harbor Freight for $2.95 on sale. Granted, HF has an uncanny ability to import self-destructing tools, but this one has so few moving parts and gets used so rarely that it's one of the few HF tools I'd recommend; it's only a notch or two above a rock in the complexity department.

Besides, there's a perverse kind of humor in seeing it in the toolbox next to a $35 Starrett center punch.  ;)

A Phillips screwdriver and a 10mm socket, that's all you need. :D

Oh, and an impact drive and the phillips tip is NOT a #2 or #3. It's some kind of metric or japanese size.

And the 10 mm socket should be 1/4" drive with an extension to get to the hex heads under the cam followers.

And since you'll be using an impact driver you'll need a BFH, 3# shoud do the trick.

And a 10mm wrench.

And a 12 mm socket.

And...
Baja native.

I would also recommend a fine Pinot Noir or IPA Beer - depending on your tastes. If you feel you need even more fortitude then Sam Smith's Imperial Stout is particularly helpful.  ;D

dunno about how easily your screws came off but mine were pretty corroded/soft and didn't want to come out without a fight. if an impact driver doesnt work i suggest getting an Easy Out set. Go to Lowes (or any other hardware store) and ask for a bolt-out/easy-out set. that'll free up those stubborn screws/bolts.

As for beveridges...I discovered a small brewery out here in the boonies after leaving Toronto,it's called Creemore premium lager...nectar of the god's and my beer fridge is stocked:)
Anyway keeping to the string...I have all the usual tools,I wasn't sure if there were any specific tools that honda required. I have heard that pulling the rotor can be done with bolts that are already on the bike?

Yes a rubber mallet will come in handy, but don't use any metal hammer on your bike unless you get REALLY MAD.  Instead, get a plastic covered "dead blow" hammer.

And I prefer a champagne.  The bubbles tickle my nose.

The only problem I had with mine was the tips of the blades broke off.  The driver body is great.  :( :(

I've got the beer,got the metric sockets,torque wrench,impact driver,digital camera,screwdrivers..so all I need is the rubber mallet and a few minutes to sneak the motor into the basement...don't want to be working out in the garage,it gets really cold in the winter up here and frozen beer is really hard to get out of the bottle :)

Most importantly, follow the manual when you disassemble.  It's real easy to warp or otherwise screw up 30 year old aluminum parts.

My absolute favorite tool when tearing these engines apart is the impact driver.  I have the one from Harbor Freight, ever since my buddy came over with his Craftsman version there has been no looking back.  ;)

Something else not mentioned that you'll need along with the beer is a vulgar vocabulary.  I have not made it through one engine with out using a few vulgarities.  ;)  Of course you can never have too many.  ;D

BTW, where is "up here."

 I'm about an hour outside Toronto,a place called Shelburne,finally got ticked off with the 24/7 traffic and moved out to the country.
The big plus is I'm half an hour from the beach in summer and 20 minutes from skiing in winter.
and my favourite beer is brewed not too far away. :)

I'm normally a beer snob, but PBR just seems right in the garage, or while mowing the lawn.





The breaker bar!  Not only is it good for loosening those really tight engine mounting bolts, but it makes a great lever for removing the carbs, too.  And for some reason, whenever I have it in my hand, I have a very strong urge to hit someone in the head with it. ;D

This is often overlooked but you'll thank me later...  You need Ziplock bags to sort all the screws and small parts and a Sharpie pen to label them!!  After having the engine apart or a few weeks you just can't remember where that little screw or part came from ...

You asked about the rotor removal, my 350F needs a 16mm x 1.5mm thread bolt to remove it, not sure about your bike. I checked my whole bike and have not found such a bolt. I'm currently waiting on a friend to drop me off his universal Honda rotor removal tool so I can take mine off. I think he actually had to buy it from Honda.

BTW, you've got to visit the Creemore springs brewery. They give out free samples  :)

Before you start your teardown, I have one more suggestion for you.
I was having the same problem freeing some stuck pistons.
I read an article somewhere about various chemicals to loosen stuck fasteners, etc.
It turned out that what worked best in the article was a home-made mix of acetone and
automatic transmission fluid (50-50). I made some up, added a couple ounces to each cylinder, waited an hour or so, and put some pressure on the lever I had wedged
into the rotor of the alternator. It took maybe 30 lbs force on an 18 inch lever to break
it free! I'd tried many other chemicals, and a whole bunch more force before that, with absolutely no luck. Give it a try!

Hey matcb350f...Creemore is my brew and yes I have been to the brewery...that stuff is gorgeous right out of the vat can never convince them to give me more than one sample :)
