Correct, the head holds the cylinder down.

No goo on the base gasket!  Or any other gasket really.  Others may feel differently but that's what I do and it's always served me well.

A touch of Aviation Sealer or 1099 on the puck disks is all I use.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Nothing at all, for gaskets that may move a dab of grease to hold it in place.

Cheers
