Not much happening lately, too busy with summer etc. Did a ride down Hiway 101 to Florence Oregon on our Goldwing, got an MP3 player for the Wing so now I can have more tunes going. Next weekend however I will get the rear part of the frame straightened, so I get going again. Once this is done I can order tires (TT100's, still love those ones), touch up all the black paint I screwed up, get the seat recovered, and look towards painting it candy blue green. Still will need a front fender and exhaust system.
I had one of my K1's in a local car show which was fun. There's still a ton of interest in the old SOHC4's. The bike getting the most attention was a 1962 Honda.
So, I will get on with it starting next week.

Ok, pics soon. Both wheels are now done: K0 rims rechromed, new wheel bearings, new spokes, tubes and tires. Need to have the 106 mm bolts and nuts rechromed then can mount the rotor on the wheel. Shock shrouds are waiting to be picked up at the chromers so I can reassemble the shocks. Drive chain came in today to my shop. Have new rear fender now too. Have to do the paint touch up. My father in law passed away on September 11 after a long illness so this has been keeping us preoccuppied. Mother in law said to take what I want from his shop so I now have a neat hobbyist air brush and compressor which should be good for painting my center stand and doing frame and swingarm touch ups. Plus a couple of trips on the Goldwing (down to Florence Oregon in August and the Oyster Run in Anacortes Washington this past weekend) and house repairs have kept us busy. Almost forgot, my son got married this summer too. Busy summer.

Pics of the wheels waiting to go. I took the longer bolts and proper nuts for the rotor mounting in for chroming, ready in a couple of days. I hung the bike so I can take the swingarm out and centre stand for paint and touch ups. Slowly, slowly it comes along.

A bit more progress today. I'll have to replace some of the fasteners later but for now they will be fine. Rear fender assembly, rear shocks, swingarm and rear frame paint touch up and getting the centre stand ready for paint. Good day!

Sunday, hooked up all the wiring, put a battery in it and it all seems to work except for a few things. The tail light drove me crazy for a bit because of the spare brown connector in the main harness. The tail light wouldn't come on when the headlight switch was in the on position. It turns out the brown connector is not used and a pin in the ignition wire connector was not making contact. Tail light now works after much head scratching. I finally checked the wiring in one of my K1's to see an empty brown connector. Solved.
While checking out a the wiring I noticed the wires coming out of the stator were a bit messy so I cleaned those up.
The oil pressure light wouldn't come on so changing the sending unit fixed that.
Put oil in it and pushed the starter button and it turned over nicely however the starter motor seems quite noisy.
I must have messed up the gasket on the gear change cover because it's now leaking but did notice the large bearing visible there had oil on it so the oil pump's working. Bad news/good news.
Put an old set of pipes on it.
Need to get new spark plugs and a clutch lever bolt.
Next step - fire it up and see what happens. A friend has threatened to record it for me.

IT RUNS!!!

Don't see a lot of oil through the tappet cover holes but the rocker shafts are wet, oil pressure light is out, ran for about 5 minutes off and on without any screeching sounds.

It's still not done, needs pipes, paint and seat done. Pipes I have a line on, seat cover coming and painter is not far away - just need more money!

Getting close but got an interesting email today from a fellow in town:

I have a complete 1969 cb750. I had the engine rebuilt, the only thing that is left to rebuild is the head and carburetors. The rest of the bike needs stripping, repainting/rechroming. The tires are very old.
I was planning on fixing it up as a project over the winter and then using the bike but I am not too sure anymore as there is a lot of work to do... and not sure if it is worth it. What are you interested in exactly and how much are you willing to offer for the bike?
By the way, it is not a "sandcast" engine, I checked engine number already.

You should be receiving the seat soon. It was shipped last Saturday.
Shipping over the north border takes 2-3 weeks for some reason.
Infact, i can get packages from Japan faster.

The strap already has new yamiya end covers over them.

Got the seat back from the poholstery guy today and did a tempory install. It looks ok so far but may be a bit puffy. I thought it was supposed to be a bit flatter. He put a very thin piece of foam over the original foam before he stretched the cover over it. You can see it show up on the bottom of the seat. I may have to cut the white out of the holes. Also the strap he made looks good but is a bit too long so it sits up a bit on the seat. I think I'll get him the make a new shorter one.

No progress since last report. She who must be obeyed has decided that some work on the house shall come first. That combined with the slower, for me, real estate market has put the bike building on pause for a bit. I did manage to put my little boat outside so I can organize my garage a bit better. It created an exercise area so I can get back into shape to throw the Goldwing around this summer. It's about 1400 pounds fully loaded and 2 up!
Next is candy blue green paint. I have all the pieces and decals ready.

When my wife and the bank account vote against me some of my projects get slowed down too! Don't rush it. You'll have less work to do in the end if its done right the first time. I use that white 'stuff' over some of my seat foam too. It should be as thin as possible trimmed about a half-inch from the bottom edge. The straps on the K0 were not as tight as later seats.
