Thanks Simpson! I have it all back together and ready to go back in the frame. If it leaks now.................
Yes my son has an amazing eye for photography which he did not get from me. Although, my sons got me a GoPro camera for Christmas, maybe he'll teach me a few things before he goes back to Japan. The suction cup mount fits nicely on the mirror housing of our Goldwing.

Ironically, my K0 is also torn down to the motor for leaks as of today.
Tomorrow I start on the motor.
And... my wife and I have officially committed to purchasing a Goldwing!
Just need to save a few bucks first.

I get jealous seeing yours in the back ground of your pics.
The gopro is a great little camera with nice resolution.
They are not cheap.

You'll love the Goldwing and so will your wife. Quiet, comfortable and quick. It's a fun bike, huge but fun.
We haven't gone far on it yet but will this summer. Last summer was about a 1500 mile ride and a number of shorter weekend ones.
Good luck with your K0. Where's it leaking from?
Mine seems to be fighting me. I keep threatening it with becoming a parts bike but it knows it has me by the balls.

Just came across this thread. Took a while to read but a lot less time than you have in the build. I got excited when it finally ran, so this is a suggestion to anyone posting these build threads to record to youface, or booktube, the initial startup. Priceless.

And I'm happy for Simpson and the Wing decision. About four years early too.

The fun part of the Wing is as long as the roads are clear you can ride year round. We do that here in WI. This pic was Dec. 26th and a ride with a friend who owns a nice BMW. That is ice covered Lake Winnebago in the background.

Nice picture! The problem here is that the city keeps pouring the brine to the roads to keep the ice from forming. It makes a mess of the bike's aluminium parts. Good that a BMW rider would ride with you.

I usually ride with a friend on his Harley Road King which causes both camps to have a fit. Too much fun!

With the help of my son and Hondaman's bench the motor's back in. And some people call me anal! I can't imagine why.

I'm almost afraid to start it although I'm getting better at taking out of the frame, dammit.

Got the carbs on after the wintergreen treatment on the manifolds. It started right up again and settled into a nice idle. No signs of oil at the head/cylinder junction after about 10 to 15 minutes of running. Not blowing any blue smoke. A couple of drops of oil on the right frame rail that I'll have to chase down and the carbs are dripping again, maybe need fresh seats. So................maybe...................

It's buttoned up and dry. I had a hell of a time getting the carbs to stop leaking. I think a couple of the overflow pipes are cracked so I put a piece of thin tubing on them. It runs but seems a bit noisy. On this one I just did a hone and new rings, lapped the valves in, valve guide seals, new chains and tensioners, gaskets and o-rings, everything else looks good. The tappets are bit noisy but as a friend of mine says -"a loose tappet is a happy tappet".
Next - save for the candy blue green paint job and pipes. I suppose I could steal a set of pipes off one of the K1's in the meantime. While the saving is going on I could play with the C95 and see if it actually runs.

I also put the sandcast engine in the TCBros stand that came the other day. I like it! I have to touch up the black in the dyno cover I see.

It's a smooth one but has the webbing inside. The theory is someone turned it on a lathe to remove the fins. However there's no sign of that just a nice smooth finish marred by grit and gravel thrown up at it by the front wheel. I have another that is obviously turned down. The one on the motor looks original but I don't know enough to say it is.
It's a very early sandcast but didn't come with a housing when I got it.

Sorry to say it, but if they have ribs on the inside they are not a genuine smooth oil filter cover. Someone must have done a good job at finishing the outside. I've got one of those myself and plan and using it and saving the real one. That engine sure looks good on the stand, like a piece of fine art.

Thanks for the info Mark. The one on the motor looks good, the other I have (from Ebay) still has some turning marks on it. I wonder if I can smooth them out?
Rather than leave this motor in the garage I'll put it on a pedestal in the family room. I have a spare set of carbs for it and would like to find a set of burned out mufflers for cheap I could chop off at the mufflers. Kind of like an offering to the Honda Gods. It took a long time but my wife finally agreed to let it in the house.

We have the odd indoor bike show here too and would make an excellent display piece.

Hi gang! Geez it's been a long time since I was here! The K0 is patiantly waiting for love but I've suffering through a poor (for me) real estate market, depression and anxiety so the K0 got left alone for too long. My world is brightening up so it's time to get back to it. It turns out a neighbour is an excellent painter so I'll take the "tins" over to him for an estimate. The headlight bucket is a mess so I'm looking for a better one. I have a newer model but after coming this far I should try to stick as close to K0 as I can. The K0 one I have is in very bad shape. I've stripped the paint off it but the lettering on it is more like a smudge and I want it to be crisp. I put out a parts wanted for one but nothing has shown up yet. there is one on ebay and the seller is confirming shipping costs for me.
In the meantime I'm still working on the Benly and detailed a friend's Triumph motor.
Here's the 2 buckets for comparison. Cliff.
