Cliff, Caught up reading your K0 thread. Wow, nice bike and that K0 on the stand is very very nice. Glad you are doing better. Please update us on your C95 and don't be a stranger...
We'll give you the encouragement or kick in the seat of the pants you need if you let us.
I know I need a little of both from time to time.

They look the same on the outside but a few changes inside that probably shouldn't matter but it does. I'm obsessed and that's a problem too.

David, thanks and the motor in the stand is sandcast 260. I just have the motor, nothing else of the bike. It came to me from a Bikes/Parts Wanted ad in the local paper.

Beware the side effects of anti-depressant drugs, they can make you do very serious things to yourself. In my case I didn't, in a client's case, he did and he died.

I started on the side panels last night. They are in fairly rough shape however all the tabs are there and the screen were in good shape. Someone had used body filler on them, repainted and then clear coated. The filler and painted has started to chip off so I pulling it all off and wet sanding with 180/220/400 sandpaper for a better finish. There's some cracks that need filling and fixing. I believe Honda used the wrong plastic on the early bikes. The air boxes became very brittle and cracked like hell. I have one in many pieces. It looks like it's been in a fire too. The sidepanels seem to do the same.

Cliff, yeah, those are going to take some work to bring back, time or money... I have more time than money so I would be trying to salvage them. Nasty crack in one panel in last picture, where/what is it on.

Franken~~bike~~stuff has K0 side covers doesn't he? If you can afford them and throw the towel in on these.

She will beautiful when done so keep that image in your mind.

Yes, depression can be a crippling thing to deal with. Meds for it aren't a science and even when they find something that works it helps some, and side effects can be more suicidal thoughts for more than just young kids like the adverts say...just more common in certain demographics. The loss of hope for things to improve is what drives many over the edge of no return.

You plan to keep it blue or another color?

I went with Franky's covers because I didn't want to mess with old brittle plastic ones...Was told I got his last set of K0's though...may have to wait for another run. Going with LPM for the air box...who can tell once they're painted, right!?

Yes, I like the blue and it's really rare around here. I was toying with red but blue won. I have an LPM air box, it I can't make the covers nice I'll go for some restorations ones. I think I'll try some of the epoxy that comes in the little rolls that you cut a piece off and knead it until it changes color. That should be easier to work into the cracks. And then be ultra careful pulling the covers. Cliff.

How are the LPM airboxes? I'm thinking of getting a set.

The LPM airboxes look good. I haven't tried to mount any hardware on it yet. I can post some pics of it if you like. Cliff.

I was curious about the build quality of the airboxes and if the primer and paint will apply nicely. I'd love if you can post a pic ot two.

Bit more done, stripped the paint off the fork ears.

Hmmmmmmm, the pic shows the small dent on the left ear nicely, better have another look at it.

Ah, the tyranny of a restoration! I've already crossed the line going to a reproduction air box because the one I have is toast, do I continue to try to restore these sidecovers which are cracked in several places and have been repaired several times already but have the original build date stamped on the them or go for the LPM or Frankenstuff's side covers which will require very little work to get them prepped and painted? Less than $100 for a new pair! This bike is not correct in several ways already, will never be sold by me and probably won't see 500 miles in my lifetime. Oh, the agony!

The covers and airboxes are one of the things that are going to be repo replacements on my sandcast as I don't won't them cracking after fresh paint. I wouldn't hold it against anyone for going that route. Thanks for the pics. I'll likely order noth sidecovers and airbox from LPM as Greggo said Frankenfrank is out of k0 covers

I think I'll be ordering from LPM next week. My covers are coming along but having fresh intact surfaces to paint will have such better results I think. I can always paint them and put them in my den along side my motor.......................if I can convince my wife.

I will but he mentioned his needed some prep before painting with bubble holes and rough spots? Are the spots to drill for the emblems mounts marked? Screen mounts? I'll ask him when I have more time, have to dash right now.No criticism but just asking with respect. Cliff.

Yes, some of the edges are a little rough, or have leftover from the mold. They need a little attention before painting. I wouldn't think it should take more than a couple minutes with a dremel, and some sanding. But, if the LPM's are similarly priced, and need no prep work that may be the way to go. How much is a set from LPM?

Looks like with those you'll have to worry about correct placement for the emblem holes. The ones I got from Frankenstuff had dimples in the correct spots for drilling. Franky's are priced better, but I'm not trying to pressure you either way, just offering info.

I'm saving my pennies up for the LPM air box now..it is a nice reproduction.

The LPMs converted using 40.50 GBP each (should ship both for a little less) would be about $123 USD or $126 CAND.

Frankenstuff does nice work.

See those cast aluminum 750 side covers on ebay?
