Yet Another High!!!!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE!!!!!!!!!
« on: October 16, 2009, 08:27:21 PM »

Yep! It's ME again! ;D I have tried several times in several years, to get my hands on a true uncut Honda Super Hawk (CB77 type) Front fender and have had to stand by why they went for incredible prices (in the past). Then, just a while back, I missed out on 2 more, by only a matter of seconds and about $2.50!! I actually had the lead up until the last few seconds AND was in the process of increasing my max bid on the last on and didn't do it soon enough! ::)

I am Proud to announce that I have FINALLY gotten the "Elusive", til now, CB77 Honda 305 Super Hawk Front Fender! :o 8) ;)

Bill, that fender really is a good grab!  I know how hard they are to get as I would love to snag one as well for my CB77.  Right now I have an aluminum shell on my stays and brace, which actually turns out to be pretty close to the original.  Its painted the silver colour, but the soft aluminum and the one-time closesness to oversize tires I once ran, caused it to get dimpled and dented from stones it picked up.  I'd rather have a harder original steel shell.

BTW the stays on these fenders are often still in good shape (just the fender shell itself gets damaged or chopped), so I've found them easy to re-attach to another shell.  My CB77 is an early one so that the centre brace would be different than the one you got, but it probably could be replaced with another.  I've actually seen guys use the CB160 fender on these models, although they have to modify the mounting as this model's fender has totally different stays to hold it.  Those CB160 fenders are much easier and cheaper to snag.

So, if you know of a cheap steel shell for the CB77...I'd love to hear, as I have the stays and centre brace.

Oh yeah! 8) And I've also been gathering parts along the way, to do just that. :)

I didn't really HAVE to have THAT fender, but REALLY wanted an UNCUT fender for this one. I DO have one that is "cut", but not too short and doesn't look bad. Soon as I can get organized enough to get going on it, I'll post in the Projects forum. Thanks for the interest. ;)

Just added a nice CL72/77 steering damper that I wanted for the Super Hawk AND another set of the Super Hawk "low bars" for another Super Hawk build that I want to do. 8) :) ;)

Still looking for a cam (or at least a left half) for a CB77 Super Hawk though. When I DO find one on ebay, it is usually NEW or even being used, goes for a hefty price.
I COULD do without it, but would like to run a tach and I can't unless I have that part. I Do have one or maybe two CA/CL left cam halves that I could trade, if that was what was needed. ;)

Here's a photo of a 160 fender that was mounted by a fellow I met over on the 305 forums:

BTW, did you happen to notice the Carbs on this Super Hawk?  They're 450 pieces! Pretty cool, huh? Said that they were jetted stock and worked great! No hesitation, got BETTER gas mileage AND might have given him just a little more top end (just a little , mind you)

I've got some photos of how he mounted that fender and a better shot of those carbs, that I'll have to come back and do.

                                         Take care, Bill ;)

Interesting bike.  That CB77 looks to also have non-standard headers and a set of steel jugs rather than the alloy ones.  (At least they seem to be painted black.)  The routing/weaving of the front cables is also "interesting", but the front fender actually looks good.  (Missing side-covers, though.)

Yeah, I noticed the pipes too and I think the cylinders are just painted, I have the notion to paint MY Super Hawk engine as well (kinda like the way the engine is done on my CBX (black w/ a few polished small covers). Yeah, the fender looks pretty good at that. Course by now, THEY probably are a premium too! ::) Yeah, I probably woul have put the side covers back on as well. Now, there's a good chance that MY Super Hawk Cafe Style, won't have side covers, but there are several things that it won't have. ;)

Here is how he mounted the fender

Here is a closeup of those 450 carbs mounted on that 305 engine. 8)
