Post pics of your CB550 w/ cafe seat.
« on: June 12, 2010, 02:34:26 PM »
Newbie Here, and I have been scouring the interweb for a good looking cafe seat for my 77 cb550k. I think I have come across all available options, but the hard part is deciding what will fit and look best on my bike. If you could please post some pictures of your cafe'd 550's and where the seat was purchased and which model, you would be helping me tremendously.

Thanks in advance
Kevin

Oh and if at all possible I would love to keep the original brackets, but it is not a deal breaker.

Do a google search of Benji's Cafe Racers and Roc City Cafe.

Here is my 500. Close enough. Seat pan is made of ABS plastic instead of fiber glass.  Came upholstered. He has a couple different styles and sizes. Best deal for the price.

Traveler-  I have called roc city and the only one fits my bike has a more subtle Triumph bump and as for benji's I would be waiting for at least three weeks until he could build it and Im not patient and would like to find something cheaper.

Puntas13-  Did you have to fabricate a frame mount?

Yes, but it is simple. I bought a cheap set of hinges. Widened the hinge to slide it into the stock hinge location on the frame. Trimmed the seat up a little to better fit around the tank. I made a subframe out of plank birch. Then I fastened it to the seat by shimming it level,  drilling holes through it, and bolting it together with lock nuts and rubber washers. Then attach the hinge to the new subframe. I haven't figured out away to latch it, but so far it hasn't been a big deal. Search for it, someone did a post on how to make it.

Thanks Puntas, thats what I am looking for. I need pictures of the seat on the bike and info on how they are mounted. I have found all my options, I just need to see what they look like mounted.

Here's my giuliari replica seat that I bought from member Ricky_Racer. He makes them for 550's and 750's. Nice build quality and bolts on with out mods (unless you use the grab rail then you have to drill extra holes in the hinge). He also makes them with or without upholstered cowl. Here's a link to his site:
