CB750 K0 Chain Guard
« on: December 14, 2005, 04:12:56 PM »
I'm taking the rear suspension apart to replace the bushings.

When I check my early (short) chain guard against the parts manual, the washers don't match up.

Can someone help?

I have 2 20mm washers with a shoulder on the inside diameter that seems to go through the plastic guard. Do these go at the rear mount? On the inside or outside of the guard? Should there be more big washers?

If anyone has an early diagram they can post I'll be very happy.

thanks

David

Here's the diagram out of a 750, K1 and K2 parts list. Hope it helps.

This is almost the same as the picture I have

I don't have 2, 21 & 19 as seperate parts. It's as if 19 is part of 21. Unless this picture is not drawn properly. Perhaps 19 is a large diameter??

Thanks

I haven't encountered a situation where the drawings are incorrect yet. Now my interpretation of them.. that's another story.  ;)

Maybe I'll order a couple of parts to look at them

dave, bear with me here,im going to research my brain cells for my memory of how mine fits.i know there is a metal bushing thing that fits in the front and rear hole of the chainguard and the bolts have a washer that meets up against the chainguard.if i may have missed something let me know and ill search my brain cells again for you.

one more thing, the bushings in mine appear to have been made into the chainguard but due to age and wear they are now loose.

I'm missing the bushing for the front hole.
The K0 does not have the  (metal?) support inside the rear of the chain guard. The rear bracket on the swing arm incorporates a tube going accross, that fits the width of the guard. It appears that the rear bushings are built into the inside washers. I need washers on the outside.

Your comments finally made it all fit together for me.

Here's a K0 swingarm. The chainguard mounting hardware is slightly different to the later models

The K0 IS different! That one model came with 45-tooth rear sprocket. The K1 version (and later) had 48-tooth rears. The last 4-piper had another different one, because of the 630-size chain.

The K1+ parts will fit the K0, but not prettily...
