CB750F2 Generator Cover on a K0 ?
« on: October 20, 2009, 11:35:06 AM »

As an impulse buy I just bought this on Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370277747669&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:GB:1123

I have been searching for an undamaged generator cover for my K0 for over a year (including on this site's 'Wanted' area). I know David Silver sells them new for around 125GBP inc postage but its a big chunk out of my restoration budget. I am hoping that the only difference between the F2 and the K0 is the black coating on the F2 but am I correct? The F2 PN is 1631-410-010. The K0 one is P/N 11631-300-040  I have checked and the stator is the same P/N for both models 31102300045

If I am wrong, its back on Ebay I suppose and the search continues !!   >:(

The holes for the case screws are recessed on the f2 and all k3 and up.

Thanks for this - Yes - I see now as I have an F1 and my K0 (both scraped around the 'Made in Japan ' lettering) - but I reckon you would have to be pretty eagle eyed to spot it on the bike.

I also notice that the casting above  the 9 o'clock screw  position hole is slightly different but could be machined away to look the same as the K0. Same around 1 o'clock  hole position  The main give away is probably the outside area around the HONDA lettering which is slightly larger on the F1.  Think I will use it anyway and keep the original just in case I ever sell the bike - even the slightest bit of scraping around the bottom is so obvious on a restored bike and lets it down badly.

Anyone know what type is still sold by Honda (e.g from david Silvers, CMSNL etc.) I reckon it is probably likely to be  a K6 style

Got the cover today and the black coating is just black paint not anodized. Black coating comes off really easy and reveals a nice shiny alloy finish  underneath. I was worried that   Honda  may have skimped on polishing the painted areas (and to get a better key for the paint). I reckon if this had been a silver cover it would have gone for twice the price as they are 125GBP new even from Dave Silver's inc. tax and shipping.
