Solid state regulator / rectifier
« on: October 22, 2009, 02:31:16 PM »
I'm having a bit of a mare at the moment and hope some kind soul can help.

I am using a Shindengen SH 236-12    0.2 solid state Reg / Rec.

It has:
1 Black
3 yellow
1 White
Which I believe is the Rectifier

And:
1 Red/ White
1 Black
1 Green
Which I think is the Regulator

Can anyone tell me if this is correct please?

I presume it's going on the K3 bike, so the wires would be; Black/White/Green = Regulator and 3 Yellow/Red and White/Green = Rectifier.....
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

Sounds familiar.

Thankyou for the reply's.

It is for a 750 K3. Is it different from other 750 SOHC's? I am trying to turn the bike over  (without fuel) and I am blowing fuses (even 30 amp). I must have a major short somewhere, not surprising seeing as I made the wiring loom :)

The ignition switch is connected re to red and black to black. Is the black wiring seperate to the 'green ground'?

When connected up to the the regulator I get connection between black and green. but when I test the green/white or black conectors on the regulator connectors on the combined reg / rec I get a quick temporary connection (1/4 second) and then nothing.

Is this correct?

Thank you for your advice in advance.

black is NOT ground , it is the live after the ignition switch I.E. "switched feed"

Aha, bingo. And all of a sudden I've learnt something that to others is obvious.

Thank you Bryanj
