I agree entirely Jimmy, a few years ago I was commuting to work on the freeway here, there were raodworks ahead so the traffic was crawling, anyway a guy on a Harley Fatboy scared the crap outta me as he roared past me so close our 'bars almost touched, I was "lane splitting" between cars and he managed to make a second "sub lane' between me and a car.
After a few more minutes, the traffic stopped completely, and in the distance i could hear the wail of sirens, so I figured there'd been a "prang". I was still able to slowly thread my much abused old BMW R100RS through the stationary traffic and soon arrived at the accident site, and was horrified to see that the ambulance paramedics were "bagging up" the Harley guy!
It looked like a car was doing a lane change as he came up the inside, and he was effectively crushed between two cars. Surprisingly the bike didn't look too bad, the cops had put it on it's sidestand and I had plenty of time to look at it as I waited for everyone to pack up the dead biker and move all their vehicles off the freeway so we could all continue our daily commute. the scene stayed with me for awhile, and every time I see fools "lane splitting" between slow moving vehicles at unsafe speeds I think about the Harley guy................ Cheers, Terry.
