True story..
« on: December 16, 2005, 05:23:06 AM »
Not like Terry's true stories, this one actually is true:
It happened when I had my XJR 1300, and I was only reminded of this when I saw a Reliant Robin(Mr Bean) car yesterday.
I was travelling on the A30 in Surrey near Wentworth, the famous golf course. I was doing about 60 mph when a Reliant Robin came tearing by me crossing the white line and just getting back on to my side of the road before a crossing island in the middle of the road. The Robin actually went up on 2 wheels, slid a bit, but then he gunned it and he was gone. I was so shocked that I did not have time to give him a friendly single digit wave!!
He was driving the car as if he had stolen it. but why would you steal one of these??

Do you mean the XJR or the Reliant?  :D
I think he was doing nearer to 70 mph when he passed me.

Steve,
What do you mean through the mangle!! are you taking the p*ss?  ;)

Bit of an obscure reference to Mr Bean, but if you recall, his arch rival was always in a Reliant Robin? I thought the R.O.W. might have seen Mr Bean and not Fools and Horses?

i have a related story, this happended a few weeks ago. Someone from my city started a taxi-company using Thai tricycles called Tuktuks. Here's a pic:

These things look rather funny, so you can imagine my surprise when I got passed by one on the highway at 4 in the night.  ::)  I caught up with him a little later at the trafficlight, and asked him how fast it ran. 130 km/h he replied. I kinda shook my head in disbelieve, and when the light turned green, he pulled away doig a wheelie. And he had a passenger in the back of that thing too!
