Apart from Terry, ;) what do you think of this? I saw a black one yesterday and it really has captured the essence of a cafe racer?

Moderator! I'm being repressed! Anyway Jimmy, I still think those cheap-ass wogs could have put the twin cam heads on them, all they look like is a Monster with an SS tank? Customisers here have been building similar bikes for years! At least they're a lot cheaper than the last "Hailwood Replica" though, those things were mega-dollars when they came out, but noone wants them now, so the wankers who bought them as an investment did their dough big time! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Teach,
I agree, the black Ducati looks particularly good.

Terry,
I think you will find that our Italian friends are known as Wops outside of Oz?
Look at this great site for definitions of racial epithets, then we can offend everyone equally.  ;)

Hey Jimmy, thanks for that mate! Geez, I've never seen so many derogatory slang names, it's like a whole new world to me! I thought they were a bit harsh with their jibe about old Adolf though................ ;D

Terry,
Quite shocking and I know some that aren't on the list. I like the harmless one, 'Scap', a person of Scottish Japanse mix; not many of those about! Och eye the noo, I'll have some sushi Jimmy!!
I wonder who compiled the list?

Some of us New York - New Jersey area Italian Americans are a little sensitive about words like that!  :o

The words friend and Wop do not belong in the same sentence ......
       so let's just be friends ....... ;)

Thanks Jim

I'll send you a note later, when I have a little more time to write.

saw both of these models in person at the cycle world show in denver about a month ago... they are sweet no matter what terry says.   :P

hey terry, go ride one of the hailwoods... and come back and tell me they're #$%*e!  dad had one for a year or so... let me ride it once on the way back from his racing it at pikes peak international... that is one smokin ride and i think someone rolled down their window and asked me what it was at every freekin lite... ya, that sucked  :P

I've ridden one Heff, probably the most uncomfortable experience in my life mate, I take it that your Dad's not that tall, as I distinctly remember my hands sitting lower than my knees! Like your Dad, the owner of this one was selling it after less than a year's ownership, I think it put him off "sports bikes" for life, as he was buying a Harley Fat Boy for a change. I'm looking forward to a ride on that one! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Funny you should mention the retro Commando, I love it, but I think they stole the styling from the Ducati Monster..

Sorry, I thnk that Norton looks like a plastic model that hasn't been finished yet. Sort of a cross between a Monster and a dirt bike.   The Ducs... Close but not there yet.

That's the thing with opinions Ernie, we've all got one, thanks to good ol' democracy. Whereas I love the look of the Norton, I think the Duck could have been done much better, but the factory ignored it's devotees and went cheap-ass on the mechanicals. the Norton, on the other hand, looks wicked, just like they did when released back in the 1960's! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Not to mention a SOHC, Mr B! If Norton start making multi - cylinder bikes I doubt if i'll buy one, I always loved their twins. Just as fragile and unreliable as any true British design, but like most brit bikes, they looked magnificent! Come to think of it, apart from the lingo, Italian and British engineers are very, very similar! Ha ha, Cheers, Terry. ;D

The tank and seat look to much "up in the air" for me as if they messed up with the frame and couldn't be bothered to correct it.

Hey, I'm just glad to see an old name trying to come back. I think they're quite impressive myself and I too have always liked the Nortons but, coming up with the money to buy one, that's another story. So, I'll just admire from afar and keep on working on my Honda SOHC4s (DOHC 450s and a SOHC twin cylinder Super Hawk. I'm outta here.  Bill

Hey Billy, I had the pleasure of building some of the early fours new from the crate, and also the big Norton.

Once preped and registered (title) I would give them a quicky road test. Give me a SOHC4 anyday.

Sam,

The closest that I got was to help my Grandfather and my Dad (they had a motorcycle
shop back then and started with the original Indians) uncrate all the different models of the
55' to 59' Indians (Royal Enfield-Indians) and the hottest one they had was the 700cc vertical
twin "Apache". The Apache and the 1st sighting of the CB750 are always going to bring back
good memories.  Well, better go for now. Thanks for the reply Sam, catch you later,  Bill

Me, I'm a huge Duc fan and love those new SportClassics.  Got to see and sit on the Paul Smart LE and Sport 1000 at the International Motorcycle show in Novi last week.  They sit very well but then I like that riding position.  The components appeared to be first rate, especially the Ohlins (sp?) suspension on the PS LE.  The Sport 1000 had a full 2-1 Termi exhaust system which looked way better than the stock 2-2 system.  Then, the other day I met a gentleman who had just ridden his PS LE for the first time last week (took delivery in November when the weather was crappy).  He loves the way it handles and says the power delivery is excellent for the dual sparked air cooled motor.  He also owns an 05 749S.

I also love the look of the new Nortons.

Motorcycling just keeps on gettin' better.   ;D
