Hey Men,

No, am not at Spa yet. Have a small fysical item on hand, but working on that. Well the clutch did not survive the first, hard, test on the bench. After a couple of runs started to sweat just a little and decided to call it a day. We're working on this right now, it is just all part of the fun, ain't it? But it can handle the 81 rwhp, no problem. It bites off the line and sound really good.
Preppin' to go to Spa this weekend.
Will keepin' you updated.

Well, just home after a very nice Spa Bikers Classic weekend!
A lot of interseting bikes, esspecially the once that participate in the 4 hour race on Saturday evening.
@Bill: that (little) set back will not stop us. We'll get there, no matter what! ;)

and what happend to the moto bel guzzi? they where leading by a mile no? still another guzzi won! viva italia!

Hey TG,

All Honda's that I know of or saw were DOHC. Do not know what exactly happened to the MG, think it broke. The MG's are doing a fine job, there where some fine examples. Still 'strange' they are that fast, I wonder...... Problem is getting that the level of competition is so high even to get into the race is a battle of it's own. There are former, very fast GP riders, like Deradiques and Stefan Mertens etc. But they also ran into problems.

what is the minimum for getting to the start line, 107%, 110% of best lap time? that'd be though...
It's funny how people who proved it all, still have something to prove... :)

moto bel guzzi the engine died, but i am not sure, maybe it was the oilline to the cooler only.

we (horvath-reitprecht guzzi) finished 10th, despite a crash in the night. but the rider managed to stay sitting on the bike, laying at the right side. only one footrest damaged and a broken spark plug (didn´t matter cause of the double ignition). the rider continued racing with the delay of 50 seconds :)

i have seen some sohc´s, but none within ~20th place.

Sorry I missed you. Spend a lot of ours in the F1-pit area. Like the endurance bikes even better than the GP bikes. How do you explain the speed of the MG compared to the more powerful fours?

speed of the MG: there are many facts that make the guzzi ultrafast.

# first of all, its the rider that makes the speed. the motobel and segarra team are racing all over the year, many races, since many years. they do have a lot of experience tuning the bike and winning an endurance race (spare parts, mechanics, rear and front lights, alternator or not,......).

# the MG does have a small lack in engine power. the big four do have ~ 145 rear wheel hp. but no one knows if they will see the chequered flag. this causes that there are a lot of competitors that compete with stock engines. our guzzi passes these bikes and the moderat modified bikes with ease.

# our MG race engine delivered 116NM torque. even the most powerfull fours aren´t any better.

# when you take a look at the frame of the MG (motobel, dynotec, our bike), you will see that the frame geometrie is heavily modified giving modern frame numbers.

# maybe a guzzi race bike does have better aerodynamics.

# there is a great number of MG competitors

Have to agree with mec, the Guzzi's were fast and looking very good. Here's a example which was present on Spa.

Though it is still amazing that the MG's are that fast compared to the fours on a fast circuit like Spa.

A V7 is definitely on my list should the right bike come available at the right time...

Speaking from what I see here in italian vintage RR, as a 750 / V7, Guzzi's are not that competitive, a bit overweight/underpowered.

But essentially the same bike as 1100-1200cc, is a monster :), specially in vintage endurance

not cheap to build and setup though. to get a choice of gear ratios you need three-four different final bevel boxes and the must have CR gearbox is very hard to find, even here

racing at speed with a shaft drive takes some getting used to too.

I considered at one point turning my LM III into an open claser, way out of my budget!

Hey G, due to illness on my part and a economy that is slightly improving not been able to do a lot on the clutch. There was a minor problem with a oilseal when tested on the bench, been replaced but not tested yet. There is a second one build to put in the bike I am building at this moment in order to street and tracktest. Am moving house shortly so that will take up some time, but we're still progressing.
