Rob, That ignition does look very good. Did the rotor come proper for the 750 crankshaft taper? Where did you find that? Keith

Hey John,
Clutch is waiting to be given a trash, weather permitted, but it will be soon. After that it will probably be put in a 1000 kitted race bike that we're using at the 4hour of Spa. If it survives that it'll survive anything.

Silly old bugger, don't you know that you don't even have a clutch? Nurse! 750cc's of Olanzapine for old Mister Green, quick! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Forgive a dumb question, but what would be involved in making such a setup work on a 550?

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

It has been done before, at least for a 500/550. Never for a 750. It looks like a bit less work than on a 750, but still time (and money) consuming.

Today worked, with my son, to mount the new self generating ignition. Hope this works as good as it looks.

Any provision for advance, I hope.

Hi Mark,

This is a CDI ignition with a presetted advance, but for a few bucks it is fully programmable. That's the next step.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here, but a dry clutch conversion seems considerably more difficult for a CB500/550 than a CB750... the primary/clutch gearing is outside the cases in the clutch area, not to mention the oil return passages.

Hi Paul,

Maybe you're right. I am not into 500/550. But years ago I helped someone out who had a dry one on his 500. Cannot seem to recall how it was build.
