Well so far found out that the lighter slide is used in only the K7 between certain seriesnumbers. Like the used needles.
These slides are still offered and a lot cheaper than the brass ones. Think I just put them in and see what happens.
funny that after all those years fiddling with the 750 you never seems to learn something new.

pretty sure my PD's have the lighter ones as well.  i noticed the two different finishes between a set of regular K carbs and the PD's, but never fiddled with them in close enough time to notice the difference.  pretty cool stuff though Rob, thanks for pointing it out!

Great work Rob, especially with this young lad from Texas holding a gun to your head. Talk about grace under pressure. Yanks want everything NOW, like driver thur, LMAO. Sorry to take the piss out you Wannab. Your excitement and energy level is to be admired.

no worries Danny, i've always loved dry clutches since i rode my first duc years ago, and when i saw this, i just knew i HAD to have it!  you're not the first to rag on my for my enthusiastic "patience", so no harm!

What are the steps to making a dry clutch work on a SOHC4 bike?  I assume it's something like:

1) Block off oil passages inside the clutch "chamber", probably with a cast inner cover.
2) Fit some appropriate dry clutch mechanism from a donor bike like a Ducati.
3) Fabricate a sexy custom cover that vents/shows off your rattly bundle of trickness.

I would really like to do this for my 550, but there's a lot of tricky custom stuff and I assume that the cost would be prohibitive given my budget and other spendy stuff I've already decided I need.
Life is precious: wear your f'n helmet!
There's nothing more expensive than a free bike...
FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

I will also consider a dry clutch for the big 4, I'm like WannaB. I had one on my 86 GSXR-R LTD superbike. The cost and availability of plates reined my race season. But I'm old and stupider now and would love to have one on the CB.

Good to be back after some issues. But we'll go from here. Have to take life as it comes.
We're reconsidering the Dry clutch as it is now, due to some minor issues with leaking we are looking into another solution, without having to 'break the bank'. Always the intention to keep it affordable.
Meanwhile my bike will enter a 3hr endurance race-demo on septembre 10th.

Am preppin' it and changed some thing due to the use of light etc. Will post some pic's.

Very time consuming job, making a wireloom for the re-located electrics, at least for me since I have not background in electricity.

For now made it from steelplate but will change for Alu or even carbon-fiber. This pic is not the definitive version, wiring loom is now ready.

The, considerable, lightened rotor is keeping up his part of the job also.

Bike is getting there, some small bit and some spraying to do. Think the bike is very 70's endurance styled.
Hope we'll get a result.

Bike looks awesome Rob, good luck for next weekend. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
My first thoughts concerning the oil line to the cooler, looks a bit untidy but thinking about it, being out there could pick up some extra cooling on the line itself ;)

Those dual head lights are very retro Rob, but a bit suprised the tank didn't get a coat of the 'Dutch Orange' as well. ;) :)  I see you have the stacks fitted, are you going to race it with the filter as well?

Hey Rob, I'm curious about the weight of your lightened alternator rotor. (The K1 rotor I recently lightened ended up weighing 1840 grams.)
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Hi Sam, yes the routing of the oillines has its reasons. First these are -10 size lines which cannot make small radius bends. Second is the possible 'extra'cooling this way.
@Tintop, due to the oillines interferring with the filter I will run stacks only, for now. Since the bike still has its registration I will use it on the streets as well, so will find a solution for that. Probably re-route the lines.
@Scottly, have weighed the rotor awhile back. Will look it up and let you know.

Cheers, Rob

bike looks good indeed

got to ask you though, what's a "race demo"?

Demonstration laps for 3 hours sounds strange :)

Thanks TG,

Well it is more of a regularity race. Not the fastest one wins but the team who rides the most laps with consistant laptimes.
For me it is good to see how riderchange and refuelling goes. No quickfill systems allowed, just old skool with jerrycan.
It starts at 19.30 to 22.30 so need lights and all.

That bike looks the business Rob, well done matey. I wish I could get myself organised to do something similar to the "pile of junk" F1 I have sitting in the shed.

Good luck in the "race". 8)

thought so, regularity is the most popular class here, and contrary to common sense, you pretty much have to push to your personal limit in order to be consistant with lap times, going slow gets you too much lapt ime variation.

good schooling

best luck
