How to test turn switch
« on: September 13, 2016, 08:20:39 PM »
I have a 71 cb500 and would like to test the turn switch. I did search to test for continuity for turn switch but could only find how to do it with two wires to the turn signal. My turn signal has just a blue and a orange wire. One for right and one for left. How do I test this switch with my multimeter?
Thanks

the one terminal to ground..or negative battery..the other to blue/ororange vire.
.but a multimeter can not pull the relæ so short it bu a short vire..(the 2 vires vho goes to the blink relæ)
..then you vill get the full 12 volt to the meter
but it is easyer to just put a bulb or light on..have to be korrekt watt to full funktion( korrekt blink) frekvens
i kan not speak english/but trying!!

im pretty sure you would check for continuity with the grey wire. Connect Grey to orange and you should get continuity when you push the turn signal to the left. Then connect grey to light blue and try to get continuity when you switch to the right. Of course you need to open the head light and get the wires directly from the switch.

yes that should do it. put the lead on the gray wire and one on the orange. Push the switch  to the left turn signal and you should get continuity (beep or light on meter)

Then put the lead on the gray wire and one on the light blue wire. Push the switch to the right turn signal "on" and you should get continuity (beep or light)
