A two carb system for the 750?
« on: December 16, 2005, 11:13:53 AM »
I just came across this.     http://www.cyclexchange.net/Carb%20System%20Comp%20Page.htm

Does any body no anything about them?  I am attaching a pic from their site of how they look on a relatively stock frame.

I thought the idea behind our bikes having a carb per cylinder WAS increased performance since it allows for more precise fuel/air delivery to each cylinder's specific needs.  I dont see going to two carbs as being beneficial.  I also question his statistics on hp gain etc. and how he thinks you can make a vintage 750 come even close to competing with a modern day super bike or for that matter why.  I also dont like the idea of having the carbs stiking out to the sides like that, but it would look cool on a chop(which I oppose when it comes to sohc4s).  On a stock setup, the inlet for the 1-4 cylinders is longer than 2-3.  On this intake manifold it is the opposite and it makes me wonder what kind of effect it would have on the ballancing of the cylinders.  Im no carb expert but those look like a fairly outdated model coming from mikuni...who knows what they were off of?  Mabey an old GS?  The Japs who designed and tuned these old bikes knew what the hell they were doing and I wouldnt mess with it to that extreme.  If I did, and for that kind of money, it would be a fuel injection setup....or turbo 8).

I looked into this setup awhile ago.

Maybe they claim their HP gain on the fact that their two carbs are bigger in size
than the 4 smaller stock honda carbs ???
More fuel = more power ???

Just wait untill I fab up my custom intake to bolt on a single S&S Super G carb !!  ;D ;D

some of the guys at www.hondachopers.com swear by those carbs.
my 2 cents...if ya want true performance go to www.dynoman.net and get some manifolds for $200+ and then bolt on some smoothbores...29mm or31mm ;D :D
