Helmet Suggestions needed - Quiet Helmets??
« on: October 24, 2009, 08:47:00 PM »
hi
I am in the market for a new helmet.  Full coverage, flip-up visor.  Easy to find so far.

What I would really like to find is a helmet that is quiet in terms of wind noise generated by it.  I am tired of getting where I am going with my ears ringing from the  noise the visor produces.  I imagine I could put duct tape on the edges but I need to flip it up to put my glasses on and take them off.

Anyone stumbled on any helmets they find particularly quiet??

     thanks!

You could do like many people and just wear earplugs. Don't put them all the way in, just enough to dampen the wind noise. Works great. :)
1969 CL350 Scrambler... almost done!!! Well, until something else goes wrong. :)
2006 HD 883 Sportster, stock. No use changing it, it's still gonna be a Harley.

My Shoei TZ-R is relatively quiet.  The fewer number of vents and protrusions the quieter the helmet is going to be.  But MickeyX nailed it about ear plugs, I just put them in all the way.
I farted and made my son cry.

I also wear glasses and found the Shoei TZ-R to be very quiet compared to the Shoei X-eleven. And reason is less vents as MrBlasty pointed out.

Webbikeworld as good reviews on helmets and they include wind noise. The RF1100 is getting good reviews as well.

Good luck,
Andy

The Schuberth C3 is reknown for being the quietest flipfront helmet on the market. But it costs "mucho dinero". Approx £425 rrp here in the uk. (about $680-700). I wanted it badly, but at that price I had to walk away and ended getting myself a Shoei Multitec for £125 less. I'm afraid in this economic climate, money (or lack of) talks.
They reckon that the shoei is the next quietest helmet.
