Hello from Illinois
« on: August 22, 2009, 09:54:51 AM »
Just wanted to say hi. Picked up a '75 CB550K1 and have started to rebuild her. We're located in Woodstock, IL. I found her on Craigslist for $250. She was missing the carbs, but otherwise complete. Found a set of carbs on Ebay for $87. Of course, I couldn't just put the carbs on and get her running. No, I saw some of the rebuilds on this site, and had to make her pretty again. I'll try to take some pictures as I progress. Thanks to everyone for their posts, they have helped already.

Welcome!  I was just in Woodstock last weekend for the Walnecks swap meet, which had abysmal turnout due to the rain.

New member myself, as I got sucked in with all the killer cafes in this site...Woodstock had a killer skatepark last time I was there, but it's super far away from me now...claiming Bloomington as my home. Good luck with the bike, she's a beauty.

Thanks everyone for welcoming me.

It is nice to have Walneck's here in Woodstock a couple of time a year. I can get there early and avoid the rain!

Woodstock used to be home to WARP skatepark, but they moved last year to Lake In The Hills. Still a great park, but now 20 minutes away. Of course old farts like myself don't skate, but my son used to.

Thanks again to everyone. These forums are a big help. I hope to post in the project forum. Still trying to figure out the best way to post pictures. I am sure there is a good thread here somewhere to help out. Just trying to find time to get it going.

Welcome to the group!

Just couldn't resist the mention of "Woodstock" as I grew up in Woodstock, Ontario.  Back in the early 1960's I had one of the first Hondas around - a blue 55cc SuperCub.  We were the terror of the town!  I got my first and last bike speeding ticket on it in 1964.  (Almost got my second today on the CB350F!)

Take care and enjoy many years.
