Trebuchet?? Can't you just say catapult like everyone else?
Anyway, if you need to get rid of 750 Parts, catapult them over to my house. I'm sure Bob and I could use them!
Different things. Trebuchet and a Catapult are two different animals as they work on different principles of physics to get the same job done.
CatapultCatapults are siege engines using an arm to hurl a projectile a great distance. Any machine that hurls an object can be considered a catapult, but the term is generally understood to mean medieval siege weapons.
The name is derived from the Greek κατα (against) and παλλειγ(to hurl (a missile)). Originally, "catapult" referred to a dart-thrower, while "ballista" referred to a stone-thrower, but over the years, the two terms have swapped meaning.
Catapults were usually assembled at the site of a siege, and an army carried few or no pieces of it with them because wood was easily available on site.
trebuchetA trebuchet , also sometimes called a trebucket is a medieval siege engine, a weapon employed either to batter masonry or to throw projectiles over walls.
The trebuchet is thought to have been invented in China between the 5th and 3rd centuries BC. The trebuchet was a development of the Chinese traction trebuchet, where a large crew of men pulled down on ropes to propel the missile.
The device reached Europe around 500 AD, where men were replaced with a large fixed or pivoting counterbalance weight.
Trebuchets are often referred to as a variety of catapult, though it would be more correct to describe them as a scaled-up sling.
Now while parts of the same family (machines designed to hurl lovely heavy at your enemy) they are different in principle and function. Function because the arch of trebuchet is more extreme, much like a solider tossing a grenade. Catapult has a flatter trajectory, which is more a kin to the trajectory of motar fire. However the catapult was meant for closer range as its range is quite short and the trebuchet was for firing at a citys protective walls all while staying out of the range of archers.
Another vast difference catapults were mobil on wheels and trebuchets were fixed position structures. I guess they might launch the guy in charge if it were set up in the wrong place out of range.

See... even rant threads can be educational.

I guess all in all it is a matter of potatoe or potato. I never launch 750 parts, those I proudly horde.
