Why 99% of the stunt riders drift to the left?

Maybe it is some brain-ingrained skill after dirt tracks and board tracks.

When I started skating (at 30) I made sure to make 8-figures so I developed turning skills in both directions.

i don't know if i'm weird (ok, yes i do) but it's a bit easier for me to turn left than right. even in my car but i associated that with left hand drive. i'm left handed too.

For me left hand turns are easier too, think of it this way, at higher speeds you are pressing on the left grip to go left, but then to make rights you have to press on the right grip to go right...also the hand that is trying to use the throttle. Maybe that has something to do with it? Just my theory is all lol

The instructors in MSF class mentioned this very point.
Just think of low speed, counterbalanced turns to the right, when you right hand is jammed against your right thigh and you're working in the grey-area of the clutch while keeping the rpm's low. try it. a good skill to be proficient at.

Everyone has a side they are more comfortable leaning on. Check your chickenstrips on your back tire. One is probably wider than the other!!! I think ColinMC has figured it out, makes sense to me. I know I am more comfortable leaning left, and I am right handed. So anyone got a wider chicken strip on the left or is ColinMC right???

I think, it has to do with wether you are right handed or left handed..

Plus for a lot of us who are old enough, we spent years on coaster brake bicycles, and you mostly skid while turning left.
Those years built habits in you that became instincts..

Yeah I found a long time ago that I was more comfortable going left, so I would practice going right until I was good with that and every so often after that I would do the r/h thing, maybe once a month same as cornering at high speed I had a favorite S bend that I would time myself going through both ways and if one way was quicker than the other I would practice the hard way until I got within 1/4-1/2 secound of the easy way depending on how I felt.

Lol I cheated...i'm an MSF instructor for the Basic Course up through the Advanced Rider Course

I ask every class after the first session where we do countersteering which way was easier and only 1 out of every 50 people or so says to the right

I thought I was the only one who was more comfortable turning one way than the other. But here's the weird thing: I've always been more comfortable in right-handers. And I'm a righty... hmmm!

You right on the money,switch throttle and clutch and I believe we'd be drifting to the right.Bill

funny though- i'm much more comfortable in high-speed left handers. sure, you're counter-steering still, but you're hardly against against the steering lock in that type of turn. i always thought it was because i'm left handed.

I had that very same left / right issue come up this summer.
Going right can get uncomfortable real fast in an emergency.

Oo no no - this is gonna be a can of worms - to go left you surely push down on the left footpeg and turn the bar to the right momentarily to countersteer into the bend? Well I like right handers better, hanging off to the left feels all wrong and I'm right handed. Maybe "handedness" is the only factor?

The main reason you see stunters doing left donuts is so they can keep their foot over the brake pedal. You want to have that safety should anything catch. If you watch closely in any stunt video they almost always have the right foot over the brake pedal. Even in stand up wheelies, you'll often see the left foot on the 12 bar and the right foot over the pedal.
