78 CB750F fork tube length?
« on: October 28, 2009, 08:29:30 AM »
My 78 CB750F came with the wrong turn signals and has the K model rubber "boots" on the forks...I am wondering if i have the correct fork tubes on it now.

Is there a marking or part number somewhere i can look at to identify if the ones on my bike are correct?

Thanks.

P.S.  Here are some pics if case it helps.

Those appear to be the stock F2 forks with some K rubber thrown on top for looks. Someone spent some money in the past putting a Tracy body kit and Mikuni carbs on. Nice find  :)

The rubbers looked compressed as the bikes they originally came on had shorter lower legs, and that would stretch them out more. So just take them off and put the original "dirt bike" style dust covers back on and you're in business. Probably...maybe...

Hope there is nothing nasty lurking under the covers.

PS: and the springs may be sacked. The fork oil likely needs to be changed anyway.

to answer your original question, there are no external markings on the tubes to identify. You would need to disassemble and look at the internals.
