have you seen Battle for Terra?
same premise.

humans go to another planet (Saudi Arabia) try to take their natural resources (oil) and the indigenous inhabitants fight back with the help of an earthling (anti-government American individual) and they come to a peaceful agreement after a big battle. (US occupation)

I saw Disney's A Christmas Carol in IMAX 3D over the weekend and there was a 3D trailer for Avatar before it. I must say that I originally wasn't too excited for this film, but that 3D trailer totally changed my mind. This movie looks incredible. Definitely going to pay the extra $$ to see it in 3D.

You have to go see it in 3D!  My wife and I just saw it yesterday, and it's good movie either way, but the 3D puts it over the top.  We didn't go to the super-expensive Imax theater, just the regular theater that was showing it in 3D and it was SWEET!  Definitely worth the $13 ticket price. :)

Do it NOW! ;D

I saw this movie on regular screen in 2D the first time around and it was great.

Then I saw it at iMAX in 3D. It was crazy awesome! A few minutes into the movie I forgot I was in a theater. For the rest of the movie it was like I was on Pandora and part of the movie. Almost the best 15 bucks I've ever spent! (best would be that cheap hooker in Mehico that gave me the gift that keeps on giving)  :D :P

I'm going to be sure to see it ONE MORE TIME before it's out of the theater.

Visually the movie is very impressive.  The storyline was a little predictable.  Enjoyed seeing a certain cigarette-smoking alien-killing actress in a supporting role :)

Kit and I saw it christmas night in 3D with some friends. I would definitely recommend going to see it. For once, he didn't overdo it too much.

I agree with you on the Titanic. It sucked. Just as bad as Pearl Harbor did. No hollywood, don't actually honor those it happened to, just turn it into a threesome love story and fill in the rest with computer effects. blech.

OK, I am a big Dr. Who and Torchwood fan but don't agree that the BBC cornered the market on Sci Fi.    ;)

As for Avatar I just saw it tonight and my eyes are sad now because the real world doesn't look as good.   :)

I am going on Sunday.  So 3D is the way to go?  I suppose you have to wear some type of glasses for the 3D?

I had to laugh at the fact that last week, Fox News considered it newsworthy to tell us that the DVD release will include a "Na'vi Sex Scene" and then went on to tell us how it worked.

Think Dancing with Wolves on another planet.  Seeing Sigorney Weaver and those robot "suits" made me instantly think of one of the Alien sequels though the films had nothing else in common.  Yeah, the story line is extremely predictable but it is a visually stunning piece of work and sets a new standard. Just too bad that there was not a original ground breaking storyline to go with it.  Saw it in 3D  IMAX and it was well worth the $15.00.
