Looking for a 74-75 Suzuki RE5
« on: October 30, 2009, 08:31:56 PM »
Does anyone know of someone who has a nice RE5 for sale? There is one here in my area, but it is very very rough and would cost way tooooo much to restore. There is another in fairly nice shape, but they want way tooooo much for it and it has the round gauges rather than the digital. Would much prefer to find a nice shape running bike. Don't mind doing some restoration, but right now I am limited on funds so a major resto is out of the question.

I sure don't, but I've got a buddy in nearby Fort Smith, Arkansas who has restored 3 of them (1 at a time)over the last few years, sold the first 2 and still has the last one he's done He's also the one who did the CBX I ended up with). Really cool and yet different machines alright. 8) :) Until he started doing them, I had never even heard one run and they really sound like a regular motorcycle engine, while idling. Pretty cool. Good luck on your quest. ;)

Someone's got one here on Oahu for sale too.  The ad says it runs.  Way too much work for me.

It sure would be cool to cafe one of them though.  I gotta work, can't spend all my time tinkering.

I have no idea how much he would want. I know he had his CBX on ebay a while back. I think he's the kind of guy who always is looking to wheel and deal. His phone number for the shop is (765) 962-4000
