Beautiful car!! and so cool to be just like hers...used to have a 68 GTX myself (440/4:11/ Hurst 4spd/Carter AFB)...along with various Dusters, Darts, Furys, Satellites, Polaras, Belvederes...and a really nice Town and Country wagon with a 440 in it. My GTX only got 8-10 mpg, maybe less if I was racing around town...but it would burn rubber in all 4 gears and I had it up to 140 once (with 3 of my friends in it) before I got nervous...only car I ever had that didn't make me think a motorcycle would be more fun.

My sincere condolences on your loss.

WOW

my dad said along time ago if he was to get a muscle car it would be a GTX. I have only ever seen the green or the black.

Nice score Bill. And not one you find or see everyday like Brenda.

How fast would that make it to Denver  LOL

So bill...where are you going to fit that CBX now? My garage has a nice cozy spot for it

Ha! Ha! :D   Nice Try Colin ::) Naw, the CBX STILL commands Top Billing here and is nice and COZY right where she is! ;) Now, IF I ever NEED to find a place for it, I'll let you know! ;)

Besides, I've only got a SINGLE  CAR GARAGE and it is running over! AND that was AFTER I went through it, to make space for the CBX. ::)

Thanks Paul. And BRENDA was my TOP SCORE! Everything else, comes AFTER HER!

As far as Plymouth goes, I was mainly a road runner fan, because it was built first for performance and comfort things were options you paid extra for. ;)

Thank you, I don't know about the deserving part, but I feel privileged to have it in MY possession. I WILL get that plate done and get it on the car. I had to go to Little Rock today and, while there, I went over to see my Mother-in-law, to see how she was doing AND to show her the pictures (from the ebay listing) of the car and she thought it was Brenda's car in the pictures. I told her it WAS a car that belonged to someone else, at which time she said, WHO does it belong to NOW? AND I said "ME!" She couldn't believe it. I've got some things to do to the car, but when I' m ready, I/'m going down there in that car and show them.  ;)

Good on you Bill :) :) :) That's one fine mopar!!!!!! reminds me of my '69 road chicken, it was the same color. Something doesn't sound right with the rearend gear ratio, that thing shouldn't be reving like that unless it has a gear up in the 4's like a 456 instead of a 356. either way what a great tribute to Miss Brenda. Enjoy you sure deserve it ;)

Thanks for that dpender, did you catch the part where I said that Brenda's road runner was the same GOLD that this GTX is? I had looked all over for years and never even got wind of anyone with a Gold 69' road runner like hers and also, her's had a white painted top. I will be better able to say what rpm the thing is running, at WHAT speed, when I get a working speedometer and I hope to take care of that soon. Reckon the seller didn't really know WHAT the rear end ratio is? We shall see. ;)

May be, I sure don't know and, so far, I can only go by what the seller told me.

Digging back into the archives:  If I remember right, you jack up the rear of the car (in this case), Mark the drive shaft yoke & the wheel, turn the drive shaft (or the right wheel) and count the number of revolutions of the shaft vs. the wheel and that should give the basic ratio. Am I remembering right (or close to it)?  Been a very long time! ::)

BTW, I took the car and went to McDonalds to get something to eat and when i pulled up to the window to get my order, a young girl asked me  "What kind of car is that?" and I told her, to which she replied, "That's an AWESOME CAR!" ;D I really don't think she had a clue what the heck a Plymouth GTX was, but made me feel good! ;)

Haha, I'm sure she had no idea, probably didn't even know what Plymouth was.  Regardless, I agree with her.

Thank you Sam, I am really happy to get that one! 8)  The GTX was a mid size car and the Barracuda was smaller. The GTX and the road runner are basically the same car except the road runner was a "Plain Jane car" (with what was called "taxi cab" interior) that came from the factory as a pretty good runner and the GTX had the 440 as the standard engine, while the car itself had more comfort items and better upholstery.

I'll do just that Sam (check my PM's, soon as I get supper going on the stove).

                                           Take care, Bill ;)

i've been kind of curious Bill. do you have to use premium gas in that car? i'm assuming you do but i have been wrong before. isnt having a big block under your right foot just the greatest thing? i'm starting to miss my 70 galaxie state police car with the 429 PI/toploader 4 speed it had. i AM glad i'm not putting gas in it anymore though.

i've been kind of curious Bill. do you have to use premium gas in that car? i'm assuming you do but i have been wrong before. isnt having a big block under your right foot just the greatest thing? i'm starting to miss my 70 galaxie state police car with the 429 PI/toploader 4 speed it had. i AM glad i'm not putting gas in it anymore though.

Yeah, the seller said to look for 93octane, and, if not, he gave me a (empty) bottle of the brand of stuff so I'd know the brand of stuff he used with the gas. Also said it ran great on Racing Gas and I thought, "I guess so, but it ain't gonna get no more, on MY watch. I can't go buying stuff like that, gonna be tough enough to drive it much with 93 octane. ::) One thing this just might do, is to make me shuck some of the "Project Bikes". No, NOT THE CBX and IF it came down to getting rid of a RUNNING bike", the GPZ would have to go before I would even consider selling the CBX! Yeah, I had an old 74' Dodge Royal Monaco "Arkansas State Police car that was running a 440 Interceptor and a 727 Torqueflite. That sucker would roll on pretty good for a 5,000lb car!  ;)
