Well this 1985 AMC Eagle has made the rounds. I bought it 2 years ago, futzed around with it a little bit. Lost interest/time/money sold it to a friend who was just going to scrap it. He GAVE it back to me, then I put all new brakes on it, lost interest in it again, sold it to another friend for the price of the brakes...and he just gave it back to me since he was sick of paying storage for it and not using it. Neither of them used the title, so I got my own title back signed by me haha.

Here's some pics from when I first got it and was working on it...maybe i'll sell my S10 and get this sucker back on the road. Just got home from DRIVING it the scariest 6 miles of my life. Made it all the way to my house then it stalled 3x in my driveway trying to get it behind the garage. All I can smell right now is exhaust fumes and mouse pee hehe.

It's an 85 AMC Eagle wagon 4x4 with the 4.2L (258) straight six. Auto tranny and 160k miles (only 10k more than my 02 S10 lol)

When I picked it up in vermont ages ago:

When I got it home then and started working on it:

And wheels/tires I was going to use on it...and still have lol:

Sorry a couple pics were taken with my old old cell phone at the time so the quality isn't great.

I've always liked those old 4x4 Eagles.  Still see them around in the more mountainous areas of this state, but most have a lot of rust damage going on.

Nice AMC project you have there.  I am in the middle of my 1970 AMC Javelin Mark Donahue restomod myself.  All the while trying to work on my bikes  ::)

Check the AMC forums for boosted straight 6 builds and keep us updated!

I dunno Colin, looks like you might be a sadist to me, have a few jeeps lying around in case that Eagle doesn't give you enough trouble?  ;)

Lol...yeah i'm pretty sure I am...

It's a lot of small stuff that needs to be fixed...it's just so daunting to think about them all at once. I need to get the Ford carb conversion done so I can start it and pull it in and out of the garage easier to work on. Or at least sell it for some kind of money worth getting...But I have soooo many freaken projects. Ugh.

if you can afford it, MOPAR has a fuel injection conversion for around 1200 or so, i think, that is made for  that motor.

Lol yeah I've seen that conversion, but for that money I could buy a complete newer 4.0 fuel injected motor to swap in (bolts right to the same tranny)

More importantly, not spending that kind of money on this sucker. I already have the Motorcraft carb conversion kit which makes a HUGE difference in efficiency, power and most importantly reliability...no more stupid stepper needle valve on the carb ugh!

I love those! I've always wanted one, but seem to be impossible to find in indiana, for sale anyway. I really want an Eagle SX4.

I've settled on a caprice station wagon as my next project car.

just curious since I never fooled with a Eagle. What 4x4 drive line is in it? Ain't quadratrac is it?
