To fill every one in, this is called "Movember" and is a MOvement to create awareness of mens health issues such as prostate cancer and depression. People grow there MOs (i.e. moustache) or beards for the month of NOVEMBER (NOVEMBER/MOVEMBER, geddit?

) to raise awareness, and get sponsored by friends, family and coworkers etc for the month. Persons who want to support the cause don't need to know someone who is participating, I think you can donate directly at
movember.com. It's no longer just an Oz thing and is now spreading across the globe. I think it's great because we men sometimes think of ourselves as indestructible and have this "I-don't-need-to-see-a-doctor" / "She'll-be-right-mate" attitude. While we are all great men and have many marvelous qualities (natch!), being indestructible is not one of them, and going to seeing a doctor is OK.

You may have seen that BobbyR has been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, so this thread about Movember is quite timely. It'd be great if people could take the time to look at the website and learn more about Movember and how you can help. It's not too late to make donations, and you can start planning your own local group of moustachied fellas together for next year.
PS, I know that BobbyR created his thread about being diagnosed with prostate cancer as a way to raise awareness, and I hope that bringing it up is not in bad taste, and that he does not mind me mentioning it here. I think that his thread and Movember share the same common goal. (BobbyR, this post is definitely made with the best of intentions!

PPS, as full disclosure, I am not linked in anyway to Movember, and am not participating in it either so don't ask for a picture!

I WILL however be making a donation to the cause. Actually, scratch that, I just did.
