Unknown Power Loss
« on: November 03, 2009, 06:31:59 PM »
I was recently riding my cb750k when my neighbor pulled up.  I turned off the ingnition and then after our 5 min conversation I was unable to get any power when I turned the key: no lights, horn, ignition, signals, NOTHING.
What have I done to try to remedy this problem?
-Checked battery with multimeter
-Checked fuses (replaced them even though they were fine)
-Checked wires with multimeter
-Pulled battery and re-charged it for 24hours (even though it was good according to the multimeter)

I'm at a total loss for understanding what the hell the problem is, any suggestions?
Now I am not an expert with multimeter function and don't mean to sound ignorant, but the way I checked the wires was by leaving the positive lead of the multimeter connected to the positive terminal of the battery, and with the negative lead of the multimeter checked ground for every connection, and everything that was supposed to read 12v.
Should I leave the negative lead on the battery and check the connections with the positive lead?  Any help would be appreciated.

Check that the ground cable from the battery is still connected tightly to the frame, and check that the connector on the back of the ignition switch hasn't come loose.

can be a bad connection or key switch, you can have voltage but no amp draw
