Wish I'd Have Been In The GTX!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: November 03, 2009, 09:14:25 PM »

Yeah, my Daughter Karla and I had taken my Dad to Little Rock for a Doctor visit (scheduled). We were on our way back, when this punk kid in an old Ford 4dr came up as if to pass me and only came up to around my rear wheel. Now, in the meantime, I was coming up behind a semi. I turned my signal on and pulled up slightly so the kid could see my signal and maybe back off a bit so I could pass the semi, but no dice! So, I stuck my foot in the ol' minivan (which has a 3.8 eng and runs pretty good) and So DID THIS D.A. KID! Needless to say, I had to back off and pull out behind the kid! >:( Man, if I'd have been in the GTX, that KID would have wondered "What Happened!" :P
His car would probably have gone into shock and died! ::) he trip went well, except for that.

I'm just letting off some steam. ;)

:D Ha! Ha! Just the SOUND of that 440 opening up, would probably make him WET HIS PANTS!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ::)  But you know, he was up far enough that I could not get out with out putting my foot in it AND when I DID, SO DID HE! >:( Sure Would Like To Have "DROP KICKED HIM!" Every other time that I was in the outside lane and needed to pull over to pass slower vehicles, if there was ANYONE coming up, they backed off as soon as they saw my signal and I pulled out and waved at them ,as I pulled ahead so I didn't slow anyone up. :) And yes, he REALLY WAS a KID, looked like late teens, early 20's at the latest. Sure am glad they ALL aren't like that. ;)

Funny story, but I'm wondering.....

YOU should have had the lane discipline to stay put until the guy in the fast lane passes you by.  Maybe not for this kid who stopped at your rear wheel, but for the others you mention, THEY should not have had to slow down to let YOU out, blinker or no...  If this means you have to slow up for the semi, well, tough noogies for you.  The guy in the fast lane shouldn't have to be 'polite' and let some slower guy out to pass and even slower truck.

Just my thoughts on highway lane discipline.

Yeah Kirk, I know what you are saying AND I DO wait patiently, IF the one coming up, keeps on coming. How many times have you seen folks seem to be moving right along and then when they get at least partially up beside you, they seem to slow down and STAY right there (Blocking YOU from going anywhere, if you need to)? Well, that is what I'm talking about, this kid came up partially to the side of me and stayed there, until I tried to speed up and get over because of an upcoming semi.
I USUALLY run in the inside lane (it's usually smoother), unless someone is coming up
and in which case, I pull over to let them go by. Sometimes though, after they get somewhere along side of me, they will slow up and STAY THERE! Not only is that rude, it's not a safe situation. I do MY BEST not to ever run beside someone, traveling at speed like that, unless there is NO WAY to prevent it. I feel like I AM a pretty courteous and considerate person ,in most ANY way and Do my best to be just that. But, it just goes all over me when I run across such inconsiderate people. And I'm not asking for a person driving FASTER than me, to let me go. I will even pull out , get around a slower vehicle (and go faster than I was, just to get around, pullover and get out of the way). I didn't mean to give the impression that I expect people to slow down to let me out, just the opposite. ;)
