I'm going to try some Vegimite from Auzzie land
« on: November 05, 2009, 08:53:04 AM »
A facebook friend of SWMBO sent a gift package to her from the land down under.  Low and behold, inside where two single serving packets of that mysterious angle s&^t that Terry from A is always talking about.  I shall soon know the truth.

it's an acquired taste. i hated, HATED it the first time i tried it. the trick is to not put anything but a  nice thin layer of the stuff onto a piece of toast or bread.

+1
Every time i see someone try Vegemite for the first time they spread it on like peanut butter, if you do this you will never eat it again, guaranteed. Just a very thin spread on some hot buttered toast and it is quite nice to eat, REMEMBER spread it very lightly, i have heard it referred to as "just a scraping".

Better not tell the wife that.  She might think she is sleeping with the dog instead of

I'm only 4th generation from Scotish, so I will blame my taste buds on that.

I quite often use Vegemite when cooking, it works well as a stock of sorts and adds a beefy flavour to soups, stews and pasta dishes...... ;)

Hey Micks, that Alan menues were a blast. :D :D :D

In the UK we have OXO stock cubes, crumbled into a stew or caserole would be like adding a spoon of Vegi or Marmite, very tasty. 8) 8) 8)

We still have the OXO cubes here.
I remember Grandma using them when we were little kids.
They've been around for a long time.
