Bobby....sounds like you are in good hands.

One of my friends has a neighbor that is both his golfing partner and his doctor. The first time he went in to his office for a physical and the dreaded "finger test" was required, his doctor turned to him and said "this is when I stop being your friend and start being your doctor!"  ;D

Bobby,
We are all pulling for you.  Glad that you are being very proactive.  I'm sure the exam is as much fun as a pelvic... endurable for the information they give us.  Maybe they should train girlfriends and wives to do an accurate exam?  Wouldn't that be fun!  Regardless, keep us posted this week on the results and your treatment options.
Cheers,
~C

I am not sure I would like my wife to have that privilege. She is a tough Polish girl from the neighborhood and has a temper. (I would have it no other way actually) Who knows what retribution she would exact. ;D ;D

If everything I am hearing so far is correct and I will have a consultation tomorrow, I am looking at this as an annoyance rather than a tragedy. After discussing this with my much smarter MD Brother, the new shaped radiation looks like the best option. I guess I am lucky in that I am in the area that has a lot of resources. I am within driving distance of NYU, Columbia Presbretian, Sloan Kettering, Yale New Haven.

Having said that, if you wait too long none of that means squat.

it's good that youre in the area you are Bobby. i know from personal experience how great the docs at yale new haven are.

We sat down with the Doc and all the scan came out clear so it is localized. While it scored moderately aggressive (Gleeson 6 & 8) I have time to pick the right treatment.

The choices seem to be beam radiation or surgery. Each has it's plus and minus. My brother is a Doc and I have a top Pathologist as a friend who will check those slides a second time. Six out of 12 samples were positive.

My PSA is still fairly low, which it turns out is not a very reliable indicator. More aggressive cells produce less PSA than more mildly aggressive cells. There is no substitute for a well trained finger. Fellas when he slaps on the glove relax, it could save your life.

This whole thing is gonna suck, but I am a lucky man nonetheless.

good luck man, i had a fissure that wouldn't heal and went from being really embarassed to baring my ass with no hesitation! go for regular check ups, let the doctor do this thing and think very not-gay thoughts while he works. you'll be happier and healthier in the end! get it, in the end!?!

seriously, glad you caught it early and you're def going to beat it.

Hey Bobby...can I have your bike? ;)
Just kidding, good on you for chasing this up, I've got mates at work that have had the operations and they are all looking forward to a long healthy life.
I guess I better bite this bullet and go see my Doc, over 50 and haven't had the checkup for a few years.
Sounds like your prognosis is good. :)

frankly, i requested the finger test at my 40th (happy birthday to me!) and anyone who get's their panties in a twist about "gayness" or whatever should grow up. it's a sight less than what women have to endure, it's a freakin medical procedure, and it could save your skin.

now, inspection my cajones in the shower is an odd experience. geez i cringe just thinking about it but i suppose one should get over that as well.

continued best wishes bobby.  8)

Thanks guys, your good wishes very much appreciated.  I am mulling over treatment options. Surgery may be the answer in that I may just want to be done with. The thing that always drives you crazy is so many choices with differing opinions.
