Need Vintage Honda Help - 1968 CL175 Blue Color Code
« on: November 16, 2009, 07:16:32 PM »
Guys, I need to get some paint from Colorrite and they need a paint code. I told them a 1968 Honda CL175, but the sales person had no reference material. Can someone give me the correct paint code for the deep blue used in the 1968 CL175, please?

Many thanks,
Gordon

Gordon, if what I've read in the past concerning paint codes for old Hondas is true, there really are no valid codes for bikes made before something like 1982. Dealers sold paint made by a company called "lubri-tech". That company as I understand it, went away many years ago. I've seen a list of various years cb 750 colors
with lubri-tech codes, but they were lubritech exclusive, and they have no cross reference to modern paint. I did find "candy blue"
listed at www.vintagehondapaint.com. Not to be confused with "candy sapphire blue" (they list both) Don't know if that helps, but maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Good luck with it tho..

The chart I have lists the CL175 and CL175K3 (No years I'm afraid) as "Candy Blue" Also used on Z-50 K1; CL70; S90; SS 125; CL 125; CA 175; CL 35-; CB 45-K1; CL 450 and CL450 K2.

As stated paint codes for Hondas simply do not exist but Don Dirtbiker has equivalents in kit form, perhaps with the above list he can help you out
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
