Conti Blitz Tires or any metric sized
« on: November 06, 2009, 04:24:21 AM »
What size continental blitz tires work best on stock cb750 18 and 19 inch rims? Metric sizing suddenly has me confused; can't recall if rear is 110 or 120. I think front is 100. I do recall an oversize front makes front wheel install/removal quite difficult as air needs deflated to clear fender mounts.

I bleieve you need a 120 for the rear and 100 for the front. Thats what im going with on my 74 CB750,  but here is a tire size conversion chart if you still need some help :)

For best handling on a CB750 Id stick with stock sizes...

REAR 110
Front 100 or 90.

Sure it looks skinny but the 120 rear will wear more in the middle and square off (no fun in corners) - bunch of posts on this with photographic proof. It rides fine for a while but tire wear is premature.

cheers

Based on what I have read and seen, I agree with Andy.

I like my Avon Roadriders and they come in 4.00" and 3.25".

You can go with a 110 size front. I can on my 77. It rubs the fender mounts a little on removal but that is all.
Since I have the 17 inch rear which is wider, a 130 works excellent but I suppose 110/120 is what you should stick with on the 18.
The 130 looks like a superbike tire on the 17! No squaring at all.

+1

That's what I have on my 750 and the wear is very even on both tires.  It only looks skinny if you're used to looking at the very oversized tires on other people's bikes.

How many miles on the tire? How fast do you ride?

I imagine if you ride under the speed limit and have only gone a couple of hundred miles there will be no squaring..unless the tire is some sort of hard compound. Or maybe you dont go round corners so much?  ;)

cheers

Actually about 5000 miles and the tires are about 7 years old and I have trouble not going over the limit thank you. If you have not done it on a 77/78 how would you know. You DO know that the 77/78 rim IS wider right? The front .25 and the rear .5

Also, maybe it is better to go by the manufacturer than just assume.
http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/tire-tyre-guide/Bridgestone-SpitfireS11.htm

This chart shows the the spitfire CAN easily be used on a 77/78 rear. This goes for other bridgestones.
But hey, get what you want. Smart thing to do is to always check with the manufacturer as they will not give bad info if it could result in a lawsuit, especially in the US.
