Topic: Choke Valve Position ?

I've just got thru cleaning and adjusting my carbs. off my 74' CB 750 K4. Carb.s are the 675B model. Are the choke valves all supposed to be down when the choke lever is engaged or pulled up ? The reason I asked this question is that #1 Carbs. choke valve is all the way down but the choke valves of Carbs. #'s 2,3, and 4 are not ? They are evenly just about a 1/4 way down? When you dis-engage or push the choke lever down, all the choke valves raise to their highest position and clear the carb. throat or opening.

This is the way the Carbs. choke valves were and adjusted before I started the cleaning process so I'm assuming this is the way the factory set them?

The manual specifies that but when the choke lever is all the way sticking out, chokes are supposed to be closed (all the way down) and vice versa.

Does that mean that "All" Choke Valves are supposed to be Closed like #1 Carb. is ?  As I said only # 1 is "Fully" closed as with the other 3, they are partially closed. The bike operated fine before with the choke lever in the position it is now before I cleaned them. Just didn't want to try to Re-adjust the other 3 choke valves if able to especially if that is not needed.

I'd re-adjust them

All four choke plates should move in sync and all should be at the same level.


The rods that connect the carb choke arms to each other are adjustable. 



From your description it sounds like something is hinkey with the rod between #1 and #2.

I just stuck the carbs. on the bike last night into the intake manifolds. Didn't attach anything like air box or throttle cables to them yet.

Mystic, you said the rods that connect the carb. choke arms are adjustable ? Is there a procedure for this and a setting the choke valves are supposed to at ?

I don't have a picture to post of how the carb. chokes are positioned in the carbs. with the choke lever pulled up, only that # 1 carbs. valve is all the way down and with the other 3 carbs., the choke valves are down only about a 1/4 way. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, the linkage is adjustable, you take off the cotter pins and screw in or out the connecting linkage pieces as necessary.

The manual specifies the limits the chokes should be set to.
