Oke i finally got some work done yesterday... I've made some brackets to mount the rearsets. Unfortunately my migwelder broke down so i had to do some stickwelding... great fun

As you can see the forks need to be shortened by an inch or so.

It's 52cm center to center... so 20,5 inch

Hi there!

It's been a while since i've done something on my bike. We bought a new house and had to do some extensive rebuilding to it...

Anyways, here are the pics...

I have mounted the engine and lined everything up to see how much offset i need on the front sprocket to clear the 180 tire. A nice 520 chain 17 tooth 9mm offset sprocket is on it's way! Right now i'm rebuilding the brake calipers and mastercylinder for a save ride.

By the way, the suspension has just the right sag with the weight of the engine included.

Thanks! That's my previous project, a Honda VT700 Shadow. I cut out the original backbone to fit a sporty tank, home made exhaust and 2 in 1 carb manifold, suicide clutch, jockeyshift, etc...

Curious to see how this bike handles, that rear arm looks to be around 4 inches {100mm} longer than standard....

Oh I can't wait to see how it handles! i don't know the stock length of the stock swingarm but this one is 20,5 inch (52cm).

I'm not sure but that doesn't sound much longer, maybe a couple inches at most.

There's a thread around somewhere with pics of the various 750 swingarms with measurements.

Alan, have a look at a standard bike and look at the gap between the front of the rear wheel and the rear frame downtube, on this bike the gap looks to be around 4 inches bigger than stock. Just an observation.

You should think about painting that swingarm black....it is out of proportion with the frame. It makes the frame look puny.

Brakes are ready...

I'm almost done with the wiring, only thing left is the dyna ignition and the taillight. The seat is now black. I also installed the tacho from my shadow on the cb. It's pulse driven and looks a lot better than the original one. I was looking at some koso units, but they are way to expensive! Maybe later...

This is a period mono shock that raced in Canada in the 70's. This one has a 550, there was at least one built with a 750 that was raced. It uses a TZ style arrangement with the shock laying horizontal over the engine. Helps keep the wheel base very compact.

A 'continuation' frame / swingarm by the original builder (around my 78 550), is planned to start this fall.
