Linked carbs on a K0?
« on: November 09, 2009, 05:52:37 AM »
hello everyone, new here! Just got my bike home. I've download some of the manuals and have noticed my bike has linked carbs, where one cable runs all the carbs, not a cable with 4 wires. I guess someone could have changed them to the later version. I understand this was a better deal anyway. any thoughts? I found the serial number when they made this change, and my bike is definatley built before that. Thanks.

It probably depends on what your goal is, originality vs. maint/performance. The single cable, connected carbs are better from the standpoint that once you have them set and balanced, they will likely remain that way. The original carbs with four separate cables tend to require more frequent checking to see that they have not changed due to cable stretch, etc.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Yes, I'll need to decide how correct I want this to be during the re-build. The bike is almost all there, with the exception of the air-box.

My K0 has carbs from a 75F, I like it that way but my bike is nowhere near stock.

LPM makes a repo air box. I  have not yet purchased one but plan to. I assume you need to use the hardware from an old one or hopefully hardware from a newer box will work. Do you have the original 70 engine? Mine was replaced with a 73 as were many other parts.
