That exhaust costs about $4500 dollars... That's one way to get that sound.

http://sb-max.com/web/cb750_maf/cb750_maf.html

Not sure about the throttle response though. Sounds about normal to me, he's only blipping it slightly, not really opening it much more than half throttle, maybe even less.

Those bikes from SuperBuildMaximum have special CR carbs.  I'm not sure of the specs though, they have a decal on them I can't ID from the pics.

That link will also lead you to a cool alloy tank and a trick alloy swingarm for those with very deep pockets.

Love the exhaust, but pretty much hate what they've done to the bike.

What's wrong with updated suspension and wheels? I would prefer spoked wheels but they do get a better selection of tires using the ones they have chosed. The braced swingarm definitely can't hurt either

It looks wrong. It looks like cobbled together crap, to me, even though I know it's very well done.

And they cant even make the side stand in the right length  ;)

Now that I see that they are a Japanese setup, i am not surprised. while visiting Tokyo, i saw quite a few appalling "cafe customs"  jobs. 17" just spoil the perfect proportions of our SOHC's. That's IMHO of course, taste is a very personal thing.

The bike pictured and video above is what inspired me for the build I am working on right now. I got a 4 into 4 exhaust from Benji's Cafe Racers. It cost about a 4th of the price of those guys in Japan.
(ignore the upper half of the bike - it's not done, yet...)

Check out my build thread:
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=22216.225
ABout half way down page 10 there is a video of the first start up. The carbs still needed a major tune in that video (and still need some tuning now as far as that goes) but it gives an idea what Benji's work sounds like.

As for your 4 into 1 goes, the easiest mod is to hollow out the muffler and turn it into a Glass pack (or just replace it with a glass pack of some kind). Glass packed pipes will help give the bike a deeper tone, I have found.

It's looking good KB, thanks for the reminder and the link.

I've got a line on a good set of stock down pipes, can anyone recommend a good quality set of mufflers to weld on?

They could have machined the stator down
to cut back on the spinning mass. Not sure if that would make a noticeable
differance or not.
Just a thought  but mine spins up pretty good too.

I don't know. I like the main tone of the exhaust but then there is a squeak and that I do not like. I like the rest of the bike though. Makes it look very sporty, something the earlier CBs lacked imo. The early Cbs do not have a sporty look at all, maybe that is why they lend themselves to old style cafe bikes so well. I do think the above bike would look better with a k7/8 style tank though as the tank is more streamlined and not so bulbous looking like a blob.

i like updated suspensions on these old CB's... but the one that these guys did just doesn't seem right... the reason that i think that it doesn't seem right is the ride height and the front end.... The whole bike just looks like its almost a supermoto bike. The front end on that bike looks excessively long..... I think if they brought the rake and trail back on it and shortened the length of the front forks it would look a ton better.....

Wow, drool...now I gotta clean my keyboard out...where did those fantastic 4-leading-shoe front brakes come from? The only production ones I know of were the GT750 Suzys (I think the GT550 had them, too). Those were the orignial front-wheel-wheelie brakes, what a grip!

Actually...to me, that one looks like it just went "SPROING" and launched the rider up somewhere above the picture...  ;D

yep, seen it in the site, and indeed, 19"/18" rims look better on our sohc's.

the one on top has way too much empty space under the rear fender. The "new" ducati sport classics suffer form the same problem.
