I think this is a pointed thread at bashing Harley. Get over it and enjoy your bike!

If this is a Harley bashing thread it sure is the softest bashing I've read in a long time. ;D

The OP has started 2 of these both geared at the same intent!... Why? ...
Owning both, I can see the merits of each machine for what it is!

As stated in the topic, this thread was started with the intent of replacing the older thread.  This thread was started yesterday, the other one is from like a week ago, but people are still posting to it.

I don't see any harley bashing in this thread.

There has been very slight Harley bashing in this thread, while slight it's still uneccessary. This thread was meant to get passed bashing and talk about why we love our SOHCs. He had no intent of another "eff harleys" thread.

I love my sohc simply because it is mine. I do not need any other reason.

I could own any bike I choose but I love my 74 CB 750 K4. I am the second owner and found it with just under 15K on it. I still remember the first time I saw a Honda CB 750, I was about 12 and riding my bicycle with my friends in our scout troop in the Sanol park near Pleasanton, CA. I heard what I though was a Truimph sports car coming and stopped to check it out. This gorgeous big red motorcycle cruised by and I was mesmorized by it. I felt like the actor in "The Island". "What is it? I don't know but I want one!" Smooth as silk, when I ride my 74 and stop to fill up which is not that often at 49 mpg people walk up and tell me how they had one back in the day or comment on how nice it looks. My orange K4 is not a show bike, but it has a new set of OEM pipes and is fairly clean. I hope to get some crome redone soon, the instrument cans and fenders have some pitting but are restorable. I have owned many motorcycles in my 53 years but I have to say the Honda CB 750 is one of the finest ever built. Sturdy, reliable as hell, beautiful to admire, a complete package. I honestly hate it when I see one all chopped out or with some ugly aftermarket pipes or toilet seat on them. Before they came out all I saw were Triumphs and Harleys, and of course small bikes. It took me most of my life but I finally got one, think I'll keep it and will it to my boy.

I didn't choose this bike, it chose me.  :)  I mean, I literally bought it sight-unseen without even knowing what it was, on the word of a friend of mine.  Needless to say it worked out ok :)

My brother and I went on a charity poker run today (on 750's) with a couple hundred other bikes. The riders were all very nice and someone stopped us to look at them and talk about the 750's at every stop. Most said "wow you don't see many of those any more" The best part is shifting at 9,000, feeling the bike try to leave you behind and the sound.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I pulled some of my prior post and copied them here, I often look at my K8 in the garage and at age 54 I still get the same feeling in my stomach I did at age 15 when I rode my first 750. i have owned and ridden and raced some bad ass bikes but back to my roots for me!
I really dont understand all you young guys on here who love these bikes so much , but boys I am so proud you are continuing the SOHC tradition , thank you ! I think for me it is the sound of this engine, whether tethered to the stock pipes or the primal scream of my unbaffeled K8 at 9000 rpm on the strip , awesome , ear porn !!! I rode my bike today in Houston for about 70 miles and even with struts from the strip , riding rough as hell , I came home in a great mood, that 750 smile !!

Here are my old post, appropriate I think :

Wow some very nice vintage beauty on these pages , makes me remember why I love the old stuff !

In 1977 I bought a brand new K8 off the show room floor , I could have gone with the KZ but was loyal to Honda after growing up on a Super 90 and an SL 100 , then a CL 350 then a CB 360T and an Elsinore thrown in for grins along the way. So I put 1500 mi. on this K8 and one night I outran my headlight , The bike was destroyed after flipping  tail light over handle bars at 70+ mph , I was lucky, had time to think while the bones healed . Decided all future rides would not be Bud Fueled ! The insurance paid off and I went straight to the dealer and bought my 2nd K8 in 9 mos. That one was built after the styling of Russ Collins who was THE MAN back then, my engine was built in Cali by RC Engineering and was supposedly around 912 cc's. I cannot describe the awesome feeling of riding that Kaw Killer, even though it was not very streetable or comfortable. Who Cared ? Fast It Was !
Anyway Kids Came - Bike Went and I was without an SOHC in the garage for 23 years . Went the HD route and always missed The old Hondas.
I saw this completly stock K8 at a restuarant in Houston and found out it was for sale, paid twice what a new one cost but now I own another K8 with 28k and am only going cosmetic , no pumped motor in the plans at this time , also will keep all stock parts where it can be restored to original if that occurs to me later.
Thanks for looking , lots of world class bikes on these pages, unbeleivable customs and restos. Nice.

Memory Lane?
Thanks for reminding me how old I am !
Ist one 1970 at 15 years old, was a hanger outer at the local cycle shop, sweeping up, pushing small bikes in and out, Heaven !
A 69 came in nearly totaled , my idol Freddie McDaniel stepped up from his CB160 and rebuilt this MONSTER, we actually were all in awe of it, disc, 4 cyl , 4 pipes , 4 carbs , well they put it back ridable and the week I got my licsence he handed me the key !!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I RODE IT gently ! Never will I forget that untapped reserve of power, the acceleration , the looks from lesser people  !! I was hooked then and still am today, have owned 3 K8's throuout the years and have a very special one still !
Thank you for my trip back !!

thanks,
george
Found this bike in completely stock condition in Feb. 08. Paid over twice what my new one cost 30 years ago. Am trying to re-create the look of the late 70's Drag Bike styling.More later. 4-2-10 It ain't stock any more and I have no idea what I am trying to create !
