Sliced up a stock tank today to steal the front mounts.

Also working on some floorboards for the wife's VLX, cut up some secondhand stock footpeg mounts and using some stock Harley pegs for pivots.

Also modded a brake pedal for her, cut off stock pad and installed a HD brake peg.

I delved into the unknown world that is the headlight bucket. Why do they have to jam so much in there? Only 3 wires actually go to the headlight. I checked continuity of the wires, decided I need to replace most if not all of the connectors. They are not only corroded but cracked and easily gotten to by the elements. Any one knowing of a good place to get connectors, please let me know. I've found the bullet 1 into 1 type but not the multiple into 1. Has anyone tucked their wiring someplace else besides the bucket? Oh, it's a '69 scrambler if it makes a diff.
Otherwise, I spent time online ordering gasket kits, air filters and floats. I also bought a tank and side covers on ebay from a 'local to me' guy and will be picking them up tomorrow. I'm still trying to save the tank that's on it with Ye Olde Mole Asses trick. It didn't have side covers so now that's taken care of. I'm am now broke 2 days after getting paid. Story of my life.  :D

I mounted my viper fairing today and took a little test ride afterwards. It doesn't really keep the wind off but a ++++++++1 in the cosmetic department, IMO. I still need to paint it and the bike. Planning on trying it myself since I have a compressor and a spray gun.

Well I sneaked off early from work and took my K0 for it's first ride this summer, (yeah, I know, it's not summer yeat, but it's farking hot!) did my usual 50 mile circuit and the old beast just flew. It was pretty hot, so I stopped in at my local "Returned Servicemans League" (RSL) club and had a couple of beers, put 20 bucks into a poker machine and pulled out 420, and rode home to order some parts with my new found wealth!

While I was away, the delivery man dropped off a big box from Ron (MCRider) containing his old "Phaedrus" black "wrinkle" tank for the K0, (thanks mate, it looks great!) so I'll strip the paint of and get it ready for some OEM "candy gold" action. Man, I love summer! (or whatever it is that we're having here...........)  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hey Mick
I'll be over your way for a few days just after Xmas.
Hope the weather is dry and hot.
It's starting to get wet here in Darwin but the temp stays the same.

Hey that's great news! I was afraid it may fall into the black hole of customs or such, but 7 calendar days from me to you is the fastest yet i think.

My sister worked for Alcan in Gove for a couple of years doing security, so even though i haven't been there i know how bloody hot it can get....Yes it will be hot here and possibly dry as we have had no decent rain in a while, on the other hand if it rains we have humidity similar to Darwin, thats when it gets unbearable.

i finally got fuzzycycle, the k4 750, running yesterday. Crisp sounding, perfect looking color on the plugs, and it runs stronger than a stock (for the most part) k6 motored 750 should. all that has been done is the dyna-s ignition and what appears to be an early k cam, k+n replacement filter in the stock airbox. i had to let off at 85 or so in 4th but there was plenty left, it was still pulling like a freight train at that point. 46t rear alloy sprocket and a 17t front, kerker pipe with the fiberglass pulled, but the stock baffle.

I played with the shifting enough to find out that I have to take the cases apart to find out why it won't shift higher than third. I then removed the pipes in preparation for this. I then played around with mounting the seat and found that I have a lot of work to do on that still.

This was actually over the last couple of days. I drilled my rotors, replaced a forkseal, knocked the f**ker over in the shed, AGAIN, lost a few quarts of dinosaur bone & broke the on/off switch for my lights off but just the plastic came off, small scratch on tank, no other damage. Think I got lucky, just put a new barend mirror on & it came out ok, little oily, but not broke. Best part, the front wheel was off when it feel! So I had to get the wheel on it to pick it up. Today is a new day though! (and the pain is about gone from lifting the fat girl up!)

November 18th...rode it to work. It was a very nice 54 when I left at 6:50am.  I'll probably get wet on the way home but what the hell.
Cheers!

I pulled the starter solenoid apart, cleaned, reassembled, then discovered the turn signal flasher looked like #$%*, (Which explains why the blinkers were slow in the first place.) so off it came, and was replaced with a automotive type that I had laying around. Also found the ground wire that connects to the bottom of the seat lock was about to come undone, so a new connector was put on.

This thread was a good idea. ;)

Just finished painting the frame red, and putting everything back together.

Then I cussed out my rear brake assembly on my beautiful 74 750K.

For some reason the pivot arm is smashing into the swing arm and not allowing for enough clearance to engage the brake what-so-ever.

WTF.. There is only ONE way that it can go on..

Walked away.

Actually, there's at least two TWO ways it can go on, I did the same thing until I realised.............  ::)

It was 86 deg F at 0500 so I decided against riding my Rocket III on my weekly 400 mile visit to my folks place this morning, and drove my company car (with air conditioning and a cup holder) instead. No way as much fun, but the weather will (hopefully) be cooler next week...........  ;D
