Thanks for all the responses guys...

Bike is a '72 CB500.

I must have two problems, there is definitely too much gas in the carbs as they will leak with the bike just sitting, but it won't come out of the tubes... just between the bowl and carb.

I just set the floats at 22mm and installed a new seat, and a new needle.

Just for future reference do you know what brand of new parts you put in there.?

Took my wife for a ride and listed to her comments reguarding that this was the wimpiest bike I have ever owned.
But she liked the way it went around corners ant the fact that it is quiet.
This is why I want to get her her own bike and make this bike a one up cafe racer just for me.
 This thing sucks two up.

That mug of beer looks tasty.

I got my centerstand off and one of the pipes back on.  One more pipe and I'm good to go.  It'll have to wait until Monday though, out of town weekend trip.

Received my "generic" eBay MC today ($45 shipped) and installed it on my 550.  I recently rebuilt the original on my bike, yet it still insisted on leaking.  The new one is nice...seems to be good quality and looks almost like the one on my modern bike.  Haven't taken a test ride yet, but the brake "feels" better just from grabbing on it in the garage.  Can't be worse than the old one.

My short little brake hose has trouble reaching this MC.  I have clubmans and had a short hose made up....had to move this new MC inboard a good inch or more to make it reach, but the handle seems to be a bit longer on this one, so it still feels comfortable to grab.

Sync'd the carbs on my K1 750. Now tomorrow will need to swap out the center stand and she will be ready to ride. Also met with Old Scrambler and learned a lot! Thanks Dennis!

Caught up with Terry to drop off some parts, then Terry and I caught up with Adam to drop off some parts, then Terry inspected my CB450 engine build and provided advice on the application of helicoils.

So I bought a helicoil kit, repaired one thread and closed up the bottom end of the CB450 engine. I even had time to install the oil pump and start on the clutch.

OHH yeah.. Got the center stand on my K1. The PO had a non 750 stand on there. No wonder it was all jerry rigged. Then took her for a 10 mile ride. Didn't realize until it was too late! Left side fork was leaking from the top. Rubber gasket I got at Home depot didnt hold up... Went home, swapped out from another bike. Now she doesn't leak anymore!!!!!!!!!

Now do I want to look for  GL front end for dual disk????????

I true to fill from the top on the fork with spring in and it wouldn't take. Any idea how I fill this method rather then taking all apart?

Anyways, first time I had the two girls next to one another after rides.

A new rear tire for the 750.

Love the 750's built in bead breaker.

Last few tires I had changed at the local Honda Dealer .. Rosenaue Powersports on Ford Rd. in Dearborn Heights, MI ... Because tires are so important I believed I should leave that one to the pros... Well... looks like they never put in the rim strips I paid them for. That duct tape is clearly more than just a few years old. .. as is the rust underneath .. lot's of rust!

Cleaned it up and put it back together.. it'll work ... The next tire gets a new stock sized rim :)

RTV of any color is NEVER an acceptable substitute for a proper gasket!!!
Never!
It's just not. >:(

I agree, and that RTV,silicone usually means an amateur was working on it.

NO! That silver K1 is beautiful mate, leave it as it is! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

TRIED to ride to the AMCA show in Gold Hill, NC. Even hooked up with some really great VJMC members. About 25 miles from the show....in the middle of nowhere...I had a flat on the front of my CB550. :(

A couple of guys fetched me some fix-a-flat and I limped it about 15 miles to Iron Horse Motorcycles in Monroe, NC (HD and Honda dealer). Luckily, a "biker church" was having a fund raiser in the parking lot! BBQ, bands, motorcycle rodeo games. Made the wait a little better. About 2.5 hours and $75 later and we called it a day and went home.
(The other half of the group did make it to Gold Hill. If you're not a VJMC member, check it out. Great people with a love for old Japanese bikes).

Totally took apart my carbs for a rebuild.  Never done anything like this before, should be interesting!  Thankfully, I know I have a great resource here to help me if I run into issues!

Here's a pic of the end result:

Thanks!

Took the bike out to take some pics, was heading home, and the bike just stops running. Zero power.  Now it's 100 degrees and I'm wearing my leathers so I push it to the side of the road and start tearing through my wiring job.  My first thought is the Lithium/Ion battery is shot, then I see the bolt that used for ground is gone.  Now since I just got this thing together the smart thing would have been to bring some spare nuts/bolts etc but I'm not smart.  Luckily I had just got back into town and there was a Home Depot about a mile away. So I walk, in 100 degree heat, in my leathers to the HD and get a bolt.  Got ground. Got power. Got home.

Didn't do anything to the bike today but I got my new SS gauge mounting bracket from The Architect today. Nice piece of work. It will lower the gauges a bit for a more tucked in look.

It came in a nice bag too. If Chris made the bag, he knows how to sew too. I would not of expected the overlocked (surged) edges.

I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Your bike is sick!

I remember when you first got it and it had the nice kit. Then you decided to go in a different direction. Absolute perfection! One of the best builds!

In regard to pic, I meant you on the side of the road walking in full leathers with the one bolt you got from home depot with a smile!
