I. Absolutely. Can. Not. Wait. For. WINTER!!!!!!  It's so eff'n hot and humid here that I can't enjoy riding much at all.  Since getting my bike sorted and running in June I've put about 250mi on it.  When it's still 90 at midnight it's not much fun.  Can't wait for the mid 60's of 'winter'.

Funny that you bring this up. This conversation came up with my buddies too. Wisconsin isn't a hot state during summer but the humidity can be difficult at times. This has been the hottest summer ever here. This summer I have had a rideable bike at all times. Still didn't ride as much as I did the year prior. Either it has been way to hot to ride.... Nothing like a hair dryer blowing in your face while riding or as of now the weather just sucks!

And we get the best of both here in the summer: Blistering afternoon heat, except where it's pouring down rain (which it does every afternoon from Memorial Day through Labor Day). Our best riding is October through April, except for about two cold weeks sprinkled between Jan/Feb in two-day doses.

Oh, and to prevent getting off topic, charged the battery last night but couldn't bring myself to ride home from work this afternoon in a pounding thunderstorm. I don't mind the rain so much, heck I rode 600 miles from NW Ohio to Central North Carolina in the rain but it was a steady light to medium rain with no thunder. Our afternoon storms whip up quite a frenzy, usually raining sideways in the center of the storm. Tend to avoid those conditions if I can...

Yesterday, I rebuilt my petcock, put some gas in and rode it around the block.
No leaks!
Wake up this morning to gas everywhere... I'll go home after work and see where it leaking this time.

Did you leave the petcock on? If so, it's likely there's grit in the float valve, or one of the float bowl gaskets is pinched.

I don't think it's on... I looked at it this morning long enough to see the gas, throw a rag in there to catch it and off to work I went.
I'm afraid I pinched the bowl gasket... It's a tricky bugger and I've done it once before.  :(

I've been receiving lots of parts from the US and the UK for my bikes, it's like Christmas in August. Tonight I got home to see that I'd received a set of front disc pads for my BMW R100RS, which was strange, because I received a set from the same company last week. Anyone need a set of front disc pads for an R100RS? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Same here Terry - Australia Post must have pulled their finger out 'cos I have had four parcels in three days.

Yesterday I got the master and slave cylinder clutch repair kits for the VFR, and my pair of NOS CB450 oversize pistons.

Today I got the Dime City Cycles box of bling, including a set of their fully indexable rear sets and a copy of Cafe Racer series two on DVD.

So now I have a weeks worth of wrenching to do and a weeks worth of cafe racer video to watch.

Ooher, well I wanna borrow your CR DVD after you've watched it mate, I've been waiting for it to reappear on Foxtel, but to no avail? As happy as I am that I've "scored" a new set of brake pads for free, I really wish that I'd scored something a little more interesting? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Did I promise to bring it over Adam? Ha ha, I don't know why (but I am drinking......) that reminds me of that song "You don't bring me flowers" by Barbara Streisand? Or the Barbara Streisand/Johnny Rotten duet, "You don't bring me flowers.......... You Kunt"

Anyhoo.... I don't have it on DVD Adam, I think I've got it on VHS tape though, can you get your hands on a VHS player? Cheers, Terry. ;D

While putting the top end back on my CB400F, I try to look pretty closely at the parts. That's when I noticed RUST inside of one of the oil tubes that lubes the cam lobes. If rust was there, I wouldn't think that much oil had passed through. But the lobes and rocker looked good. So, I left the tubes off, and kept pushing the kick-starter while watching where the tubes plug into the cylinder head. After a few kicks, I was happy to see oil pump up into the head through both holes.

I still cannot guess how rust formed in there. The restoration continues.

Rode my bike today as it was only in low 90s this morning.  Ran a couple of errands and went by a local shop to pick up a bubble shield for my Biltwell.  In the 22 miles I rode I nearly got hit 3  times.

Managed to get the bolt that holds the points plate off. My 10mm sockets didn't fit quite as snugly as I wanted, and turns out I was using a 12-point socket, so it started stripping it. I grabbed a 6-point socket (and had to use the smaller drive ratchet). Took more effort, but I was able to grip the bolt better and it came out.

Will be cutting the advance springs per HondaMan's instructions, cleaning everything up, then reassembling. Just waiting on my set of brand new points and condensers.
