Well that was a good story mate, for sure! Hey if you're running pods/velocity stacks it should be running very lean, what size main jets are you running, and what's the needle position? Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was running 40 slows and 115 mains with the needle clip in the 4th (stock) position, with pitted points and it was very lean. I guess I overestimated the jetting. I replaced the points, went up to 42 slows and one notch richer, and it was extremely rich. Going to put the screens back on and go back down to 40 slows (and keep the needle position). That should put me a lot closer to where I need to be.

Put in 40 slows and kept the rest of the settings as they were. Runs much better. Haven't cleaned the plugs from when it ran last, but it should be fine.

Picked up new avons and tach & speedo cables for the kz

Went digging at a local bike salvage shop, walked out with a gas cap for my spare kz1000 tank, a set of in cracked carb boots for my 77 cb750 and a spare screen for a Henry Abe bread box. Picked up some foam for the breadbox, cleaning up the box in some evapo rust.

Oh and went for a ride in the morning with my wife as well.

How's that beautiful Kawasaki going mate? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks for asking Terry

It's coming along nicely, been doing shakedown runs lately. So far it hauls ass, it's got some serious power for an old bike! I'm having a hard time keeping that #$%* eating grin off my face, haha.

So far I need to check the steering bearing etc for a front end wobble at low speeds, have a leaky float needles to sort out. Nothing too major, tuning bull#$%*. It runs, goes and stops well, love the beast :$

You might be right about my Cb not seeing as much use, haha

Cheers.

Z1 enterprises are great mate, and Jeff is a member here, and a nice bloke to boot. I recently bought a 530 conversion kit for my GS1000 from these guys (because Z1 don't ist one) and their service was first class. I got yakking to them, and ordered some handlebars and grips as well, and the price was half what I'd have to pay here in "Rip off land" (Oz) Cheers, Terry. ;D

Nothing done to the bike today. Been trying to finish season 4 of Breaking Bad. 1 1/2 episodes left.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Buttoned up my carbs after tapping 5mm screws for the float bowl (also had to drill the holes larger to fit them). Bike runs great on the stand. Haven't taken it out for a ride yet, and I probably won't do it tonight either. Next chance to ride will be tomorrow on a vintage mods/rocker cruise. Will be the same guys I met up with last time, plus the Vespa club and the Ruckus club, and hopefully some new faces. Hope I don't embarrass myself :3

Also repositioned my center stand stop (the L bracket from MAC) so it'll stop bending on bumps.

Figured out why my left turn signals and taillight were out. Turns out it was two completely unrelated issues. The turn signals were out because I had rustled a few wires in the headlight bucket swapping out my new headlight. The taillight was out because I disconnected the tail light wire to tap into the electrical system for my digital dash. I could've SWORN everything was working after I did that. But I guess not. It pays to pay attention to what you're doing :)

Removed and measured my 350F plug caps. They were poor to say the least; mostly held together with electrical tape, they fell to bits as I unwrapped them. The best part was their resistance readings:

8 kohm
12 kohm
19 kohm
4 kohm

Um, looking forward to my new caps.

I just got back from a 50 mile or so ride down the darkest windiest roads in Kansas City, Blue River Road and Mission Road south of 151st Street....a light drizzle lent it an other worldy...Nurburgring endurance night time feel to it...and the sound...in the lower gears @ tween  6k and 9k...gave it all a Walter Mitty feel of great speed...but actually around 35 to maybe 55 mph...with a mist from the damp...it was F'n awesome...a legend in my own mind...Lol!

Ha ha, I restored a 350F in 1996 and I loved it, but when I got stomped by a Mitsubishi Magna (possibly the worst car ever built) I had to move it on. A pity, as it was a fun little bike. Cheers, Terry. ;D
